Buenos días! Hace tiempo que me planteo el hecho de darle una vuelta a mi perfil pero no sabía como. El otro día hablando con una amiga que entiende de marketing me dijo que mi perfil sólo servía si quería ser modelo, nada más. Así que la necesidad de cambio se volvió aplastante 🤣 No os negaré que me encantaría que me regalaran mallas y me hicieran fotos, no sabéis lo cara que es la ropa de yoga! Recuerdo cuando empezé a practicar que íbamos a clase con las mallas más viejas que teníamos en el armario y ahora las clases parecen una pasarela!

En fin, que van a empezar a haber pequeños cambios por aquí con la intención de que cada uno de estos cuadraditos tenga su significado, sea explicando conceptos nuevos, técnicas para entrar correctamente en las posturas, como buscar variaciones para adaptar nuestra práctica a lesiones o recomendaciones en cuanto a material... Cualquier cosa  que os aporte algo a los que me leéis, aunque sea sólo una sonrisa para empezar el día con otro color!

Y si tenéis dudas o os apetece que hable de algo en particular comentadmelo! Soy todo ojos 😝 ⬇️

PINCHA TIPS〰️
This is my nemesis.
I am not sure for how many years I have been practising it, on a off - maybe 5? Definitely since I’ve lived in London and discovered Vinyasa Flow.
I absolutely love this pose.
And hate.
I feel equally strong and vulnerable practising it. 
Some days I am super wobbly. 
Others I manage to catch some stillness.
Some days I am there, others I am somewhere else.
Here are my top pincha tips, having in mind I don’t have huge arms nor massive muscles.
1. Start small. Like any other inversion. Get your hamstrings flexible with your sun salutations and vinyasas.
3. Do not use a wall. Try with a block - or a book - between your hands. It will give you mental focus and power.
4. Use and abuse from your ujjayi. Loud is good. Tribal works even better for me.
5. Play with your shoulder and hands width. I was told not to bring my hands close but my body does it naturally. Don’t fight your body.
6. Learn to fall. You know why, right? Yup, you will fall.
7. Try out different variations. One leg up, other leg up, half-splits, #scorpio - ooh I love this one.
8. Get your core stable - all those planks and chaturangas. Keep bringing your attention back to your uddyiana bandha aka squeeze your diafragm. It does magic to your inversions.
9. Have fun. Laugh. Take a piss out of yourself.
10. Rest in child’s pose after 3 gos.

My drills for #EPK2 ou #ekapadakoundinyasana 2, as requested, lost of chaturanga holds and push-ups and lots of stretching, I like half splits, low lunges and lizard pose. For the execution (see video), the easiest way I can think of is starting kneeling, hands and feet on the same line, then step ahead of your hands, hook your triceps under your hamstring, lift your back knee, now if you still don’t have a lot of arm and core strength, lay your ribs on your triceps, eventually you won’t need that, that’s it! Time to play, straighten your front leg, shift you weight forward until you feel like you can lift your back feet, if you are afraid of falling on your face just start with your face touching the floor and lift it afterwards. The second video show it from the side! Good practice! ___________________________________________

First wheel pose since May/June when I found out about my herniated disc.
I am not sure if I should or shouldn’t do this, but I felt no pain and I feel the need to work on backbends because the rest of my back is painful if I don’t do it because of my scoliosis. I filmed it mostly to show it to my physiotherapist to ask him some suggestions. Just to be clear I had no pain doing this, but I could not do a normal wheel pose, I had to do this straight leg variation so that I was leaving my lower back relaxed and focus only on my chest and shoulders.

Some say you don't have to be flexible to do yoga. I totally agree with that. 
If you're already flexibly, there will be less happy and satisfying moments. When you begin with something from 0 and you slowly experience all those new things happening to your body and the way you look at things through #yogapractice , I strongly think it's incredibly beautiful.

Progressing is SUCH a motivator. You just want more and more and MORE all the time that you forget to stop 🛑 and be thankful for all you’ve conquered already. I remember back in the day, it used to be common in yoga workshops to work towards“advanced” asanas. The teacher would use a really bendy person to demo the pose. We would all be gathered around that person, the teacher often helping to pull their legs or arms deeper into the pose. And then... the final version of the poses would achieved and we’d all burst into a round of applause.

Does anyone else remember those days? Or does that still happen?! Even back then, that applause bugged me. Why were we applauding for a shape that the majority of people in that workshop wouldn’t even be able to do?

You know what I would love to applaud instead? All the unseen inner work of yoga. Cheering for the person who could barely function due to depression and made it on their mat and rested in child’s pose breathing a few mindful breaths. The mama who hasn’t had enough sleep, get to finally enjoy time alone with her legs up the wall for five minutes. The yoga teacher that is scared to stand up in front of the class but does it anyways because she trusts in the practice.

So many countless ways to see our progress in yoga that cannot be measured by range of motion or an instagram photo. We are the ones who get to define our progress. Progress is a moment to moment measurement, it’s not linear, it’s not always clear. So here is my applause to you. For showing up, for being willing to grow and learn and let go of our cultural ideals of who we should be and accept who we actually are. That’s my kinda progress 👏💜 .

If you're working on your handstand & the first part of this video looks all too familiar, (ie. 'kicking your feet up & hoping they just stay there'), I have news for you: many of us have been there... 🙋🏻‍♀️
And you shouldn’t sweat it because balancing on your hands is hard! It’s a skill that takes time, patience, practice, & dedication. 🙌🏼
But if you’re looking to get a little more hang time in this pose, allow me to give you a hand(stand)... 🤦🏻‍♀️ Below are 4 exercises to help you with the strength & alignment needed in handstand.  For most of these moves you’ll want to wear a pair of non-slips socks (to protect the tops of your feet & to prevent you from slipping
🔸 Floor Tucks:
Press your hands firmly down into the ground as your lift your hips all the way up. Keep your core engaged & arms strong. (3 sets of 8)
🔸 Pike Slides:
From high plank (with tops of feet on floor), press the ground away from you & use your core to lift your hips up. Bring your legs in toward your arms, then slide back to plank. (3 sets of 8)
🔸 Handstand Shrugs:
Facing the wall, get your body as close to the wall as you can.  Completely straighten your arms, then imagine trying to make yourself taller just by shrugging your shoulders. Then relax the shoulders, but keep the arms straight the whole time. (3 sets of 8) 🔸 L Handstand:
Walk the feet up the wall, until the legs are parallel to the ground & shoulders are over the hips. Lift one leg at a time, keeping the core engaged & shoulders over the hips. (10 reps)
When you’re ready, slowly bring the second leg up.
Remember: 👇🏼
🔹DON’T force anything. Listen to your body, & take your time, the most important thing is how it feels (& it should feel good!)

This is me, teaching a regular yoga class. But did you notice I'm laughing? If you know me, or have attended my class, you likely know I dont take myself too seriously. My english is not always sharp, so sometimes I say things that end up being funny or silly; and I trully have no problem with that, it's all fun. You'll see, I am a believer that laughter is the best medicine. Smiling alone can trick your brain and trigger the release of hormones -like dopamine- that make you feel good, decreasing stress and sometimes even pain. 
My no.1 tip for everybody, anytime you find yourself tensing and straining (perhaps on that downdog, or chair pose) smile big and wide, laugh at yourself and allow your body to soften into that smile. Right there, you'll be reprogramming the way your brain and your body react to stress. 
Even when I get nervous, my coping mechanism is to laugh, which is not always appropiate or funny... so be smart using your laughter techniques mindfully ;)

Middle split drills with socks -

Sometimes sitting there and stretching can be boring so I like to spice things up and slide all over my floor while getting flexy. SO. I'm sharing my FAVORITE exercises to help get my middle splits.

Drills in order: ❃Malasana (Yogi squat) to wide legged forward fold
❃One legged malasana switches
❃Half split then rotate out 90° while dropping chest to floor.
❃Frog pose variations: point your toes and bring them in to touch, then flex toes and slide outwards.
❃Straddle leg lifts (5-10 each side)
❃Mini straddle press - try to get your bum lifted often the ground.
❃Half cobra straddle - rock back with your hands through your legs and roll though stopping mid way in the middle splits and make sure your arms are supporting you.
❃Full cobra straddle - flow through a few times.

These drills have worked wonders for me and I hope they can help you too! If you want the middle splits, you can do it. It takes patience and consistency.🖤 Comment if you have any Q's.

||NON-COMPETE|| Hardest lesson I ever learned after my Mental Breakdown story 🦋

Clearly yoga saved me but teaching saved me even more so! The connection and peace I was able to bring to my students left me with pure joy each time I taught.

So when I quit my side job to start my own yoga therapy business, my old work said if I taught anywhere within a 100mi radius within the next year I would be violating my non-compete.
.
And would give them rights to sue me like they had prior employees. Cue jaw drop and a few curse words.
.
And trigger...NEXT emotional breakdown 😐 Second time in therapy.
.
I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep. I think it hit deeper then any breakup I’ve ever had. It penetrated my soul.
.
I was still working at a traditional PT office and the lawyer I talked to was like “Well at least it’s not your PT job. Just give up teaching yoga for a year. It will go by fast.” 🤨
.
Are you kidding me? GIVE IT UP?! I remember just dropping my head between my hands and sobbing in their office. Confused. Powerless. Enraged.
.
All I could think in my mind was. Yoga is something I thought nobody could ever take away from me?!
.
If I tried to fight it, it would cost me thousands. If I lost, it would cost me thousands more. Taking that risk...could cause me to lose my dream job forever.
.
So what are my options? Leave or leave? Because I’m NOT putting teaching on hold. 🙅🏼‍♀️
.
So I left. Rented my house I just finished remodeling. Quit my PT job within the next month. And then flew to Arizona for a travel PT assignment for the next year.
.
I left to pursue what I loved. I left my family, my friends, my home, and my job. Because I knew I would be NOTHING to any of them if I wasn’t internally happy.
.
But that ladies and gentleman...is how @MedFlowYoga started. 🦋
.
So moral of the story? Don’t EVER let someone tell you what you can and cannot do! EVER!!! You just follow that little heart of yours and it’s all gonna work out. I promise you it will💫
.
Obstacles will be in the way. But do not settle for anything less than what YOUR SOUL desires. Because it will be worth it! And YOU are so worth it!

I was still working at a traditional PT office and the lawyer I talked to was like “Well at least it’s not your PT job. Just give up teaching yoga for a year. It will go by fast.” 🤨 . Are you kidding me? GIVE IT UP?! I remember just dropping my head between my hands and sobbing in their office. Confused. Powerless. Enraged. . All I could think in my mind was. Yoga is something I thought nobody could ever take away from me?! . If I tried to fight it, it would cost me thousands. If I lost, it would cost me thousands more. Taking that risk...could cause me to lose my dream job forever. . So what are my options? Leave or leave? Because I’m NOT putting teaching on hold. 🙅🏼‍♀️ . So I left. Rented my house I just finished remodeling. Quit my PT job within the next month. And then flew to Arizona for a travel PT assignment for the next year. . I left to pursue what I loved. I left my family, my friends, my home, and my job. Because I knew I would be NOTHING to any of them if I wasn’t internally happy. . But that ladies and gentleman...is how @MedFlowYoga started. 🦋 . So moral of the story? Don’t EVER let someone tell you what you can and cannot do! EVER!!! You just follow that little heart of yours and it’s all gonna work out. I promise you it will💫 . Obstacles will be in the way. But do not settle for anything less than what YOUR SOUL desires. Because it will be worth it! To be honest, this island is a JUNGLE. So different than it’s next door neighbor Mauritius. Nature here is having a tight grip on everything. Vegetation comes through walls and stones. Water is making its way through the earth pouring down in waterfalls everywhere. Once in a while tremendous amounts of lava pours over parts of the land, transforming and renewing the shape of the island completely. Never seen anything like it. It has my deepest respect and reminds me that we as humans are only a small part of the equation.

Today is going to be a huge GYST (get your shit together) day for me. I am going home for a whole week next week and need to get some work done, make lists, do laundry, organize, make some calls; all the normal gyst things. It’s that time of the year where everything is getting super busy and hectic yet at the same time coming to a close (2019 is only 45 days away say wuhhhh 😲) so I find myself always thinking about the next thing I need to get done. Looking forward to a week to slow downnn and be with my family ✨💛🙏🏼

#Planksgiving challenge! This morning I took a class @pearlstreetfitness (awesome btw) and they mentioned their planksgiving challenge. I started thinking how much I love a plank, really any kind. Anyone can do one with a modification making them easier or harder. You can instantly turn all of your muscles on. Until Thanksgiving hold a plank (any kind) for as long as you can. Seriously this is only 6 days. Post in your story and tag me and I’ll repost you. BTW extra points for style. You will be amazed by the strength you can build with consistency and in a short period of time. I’ll post a bunch of variations in my story.

I remember back in the day, it used to be common in yoga workshops to work towards“advanced” asanas. The teacher would use a really bendy person to demo the pose. We would all be gathered around that person, the teacher often helping to pull their legs or arms deeper into the pose. And then... the final version of the poses would achieved and we’d all burst into a round of applause.

Does anyone else remember those days? Or does that still happen?! Even back then, that applause bugged me. Why were we applauding for a shape that the majority of people in that workshop wouldn’t even be able to do?

You know what I would love to applaud instead? All the unseen inner work of yoga. Cheering for the person who could barely function due to depression and made it on their mat and rested in child’s pose breathing a few mindful breaths. The mama who hasn’t had enough sleep, get to finally enjoy time alone with her legs up the wall for five minutes. The yoga teacher that is scared to stand up in front of the class but does it anyways because she trusts in the practice.

So many countless ways to see our progress in yoga that cannot be measured by range of motion or an instagram photo. We are the ones who get to define our progress. Progress is a moment to moment measurement, it’s not linear, it’s not always clear. So here is my applause to you. For showing up, for being willing to grow and learn and let go of our cultural ideals of who we should be and accept who we actually are. That’s my kinda progress 👏💜 .

Step 1: Make sure your hips are warmed up

Step 2: Roll onto outer edge of right thigh. Think of sticking both buttcheeks out to the person on your left. It might feel difficult because the left leg is blocking it. Adjust your bum a little towards the person on your left again to help. Note: Right toes should be pointing towards the person on your right now.

Step 3: Align right palm to left foot, fingers pointing to long side of the mat. Right arm position is similar to Chaturanga. Some people prefer placing it further away just like a wide arm push up position, that's fine.

Su color es el azul y físicamente está centrado zona garganta y tiroides. Equilibrado hablamos con sinceridad tanto a nosotros como a los demás, vivimos de acuerdo con lo que decimos y hacemos, buscamos la verdad y nos sentimos empoderados para expresar.
Las disfunciones si está desequilibrado son dolor de garganta, úlceras bucales, problemas voz, trastornos cervicales y de tiroides.

Práctica de Dhanurasana (arco) , visualizando azul en garganta y expandiendo la conciencia.
Alimentación basada en alimentos de agua , sopas , infusiones, algas. 
Mantra: Tengo fuerza para expresarme claramente.

The relation between my body and me is something that looks like a complicated  love story. To fall in love with my body it took time, because I needed to know it very well, to start trusting and accepting it. I think it would have been impossible for me to start loving my body without a long, deep and hard process of knowledge: so to speak, it hasn’t been love at first sight at all. Everyone has its own path, but I do believe that every single person can actually learn to love its own body, discovering that the real and best pleasure comes from this relationship. Movement is pleasure, our body is a temple and beauty is the harmony we achieve when the relationship with our body is authentic and daily renewed.

Deze houding werkt verfrissend en verjongend (hoera!)

Kom in deze houding vanuit Down Dog: Stap met je rechtervoet tussen je handen, verplaats je rechterhand naar de binnenkant van je rechtervoet en plaats je linkervoet dwars op de mat en draai deze dan een beetje naar binnen zodat je tenen schuin naar voren wijzen. Zorg dat deze voet in zijn geheel de mat raakt. 
Strek dan langzaam je rechterbeen helemaal uit, draai je linkerheup naar achteren als ook je borst en strek je linkerarm recht omhoog. Je blik gaat naar je linkerhand en je 'duwt' je kruin naar voren. Blijf je borst open en gelift houden. 
Mocht het een te grote uitdaging zijn om je rechterhand op de mat te houden, plaats deze dan op je voet of scheen (bij voorkeur geen brick gebruiken, om 'hangen/steunen' te voorkomen). Adem rustig in en uit. Herhaal op links
