🌝 As many of you know already, we organize Full Moon Women's Circles during which it's all about sisterhood, sharing, laughing, supporting each other, helping, sometimes crying, and releasing.
Our next one is on Friday 26th of October, and you only have until the 19th to get your early bird (link in ou bio), so be quick 😉
Turning up on Tuesday with a smile on your dial! ✅😊
Sphinx pose, or Salamba Bhujangasana in Sanskrit, strengthens the spine while stretching the front of the heart, the chest, the shoulders, and the tummy. It expands the lungs and stimulates the abdominal organs and digestive system and improves blood circulation to rejuvenate your back.
Hands up if you're a desk worker and you know you need this in your life? ✋🙋🙌.
Guess where you can find it? 😉 Come on in...
STRETCH AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY- okay, so I was actually just hamming it up for the camera, but leaning into a wall this way with one arm up is a great way to stretch out the load of stress we carry around. Try it - at the very least it will make you smile. #yoga#yogasydney#stretching#strongwomen#healthyhabbits

Acupuncture has been practiced in China for at least 4500 years, but did you know that it was relatively unknown in the USA until the 1970s?
It was during President Nixon’s visit to China, when James Reston of the NY Times had acupuncture for pain...this sparked the growth in public interest and utilisation of Chinese Medicine in the west in the early 1970s ☯️

Oh my! I’ve had the best weekend ever getting back into teaching upon being back in NSW after almost 5 years in stunning Tasmania ! It started with Yoga and meditation practices guided by Mysan, followed by teaching teachers-in-training at my teacher’s @mysanyoga gorgeous space- hugest honour, and I’m still pinching myself that Mysan❤️ offered that to me! Of course I was excited/anxious/nervous - I can never pinpoint which of those apply best, but it was of the good kind and I so wanted just to be of service and deliver the information of value. That followed by a booked out Spring Clean Wellness & Yoga Workshop at that same beautiful studio, located in Kincumber, NSW! Nerves?! Absolutely!...Tapas...Dharma- YEP, overpowering the nerves! So-so grateful for all the support from those who came, from my teacher and the fellow Yoga teachers!
The whole weekend was about sharing the hugest passions of mine Yoga & Ayurveda + interweaving the recent research to support the ancient teachings, I do not doubt but love learning & researching more about! 🙏🏻🍃❤️what about the gratitude practice for next week? Well, I’m blessed to have the longest list!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

We are so honoured to have shared The Yoga Impact Charity Trauma informed Yoga retreat in Italy at the beautiful Locanda Della Quercia Calante this weekend with an incredible group of yogis + therapists from Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, The United Arab Emirates & South Africa 🌍
Our Core Principles are based on learnings from over 700 trauma informed yoga classes with refugees who have experienced Torture & trauma
The yoga program has been evaluated by the New South Wales Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture & Trauma Survivors and found to reduce Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Depression, improve relaxation, improve sleep and reduce pain. The results have been shared at conferences globally including The North American Refugee Health Conference, The Refugee Trauma and Recovery Conference, The Yoga Australia Conference and Australasian Yoga Therapy Conference ~
Our unique model draws together a multidisciplinary team to deliver programs with each class utilising the support of a yoga teacher, psychologist and interpreter for each class. This evidence based, multidisciplinary approach allows our yoga programs to be embedded within mainstream psychological services, schools, government and not for profit organisations
You’ve seen some of the Prenatal Yoga YTT Library. Here’s a peak at a few of the YREST: Yin & RESTORATIVE YTT Library Books. Always at my trainings, students get to peruse parts of my Collection. 📚
Brought twenty boxes of books from Chicago to Texas and then post-Korea all the way, slowly slowly..extra luggage fees and tired arms, to Hong Kong. And from Hong Kong to Sydney. These books were always hand-chosen. These books are well-traveled and I’m always surprised I never got calluses from finger-picking through them. A lot of ink has bled and pens, highlighters and clickie pencils have died in the thumbing through of them. As so many of you know, THEY ARE MY BABIES!! Ask @lucybentleyyoga @nellsanmandala @mkblooms @mhetho @idasamadian THEY KNOW!! 📚🤓
Speaking Words of Wisdom...
Just two more weeks before Jules Febre @hiphopasana is at @jivamuktiyogasydney and workshops are already filling up ✨
Hip Opening - Nov 2
Twisting and Muscles of the Trunk - Nov 3
Advanced Asana - Nov 9 & 18
Inversions - Nov 10

ATTENTION YOGA TEACHERS! FOR YOU • 🆕 B L O G 🎁 including philosophy, Spotify playlist & sequencing for this week ... Once upon a time I thought that presence was a destination, when I am present vs when I am not present. But what I have come to recognise over the years of this practice is that I have never quite got there, that I am only able to become present to a certain number of aspects of my life at one time, and there is so much more to go. Like peeling away the layers of myself (kinda like an onion, but much less smelly), I came to surrender that I really know nothing, and that the universe has a world of opportunity, abundance, love, happiness and joy ready for me waiting, if I can choose to let go of aspects of my subconscious thinking that are blocking me from receiving. This is what I must become present 🎁 to if I want positive change in my life, letting go of the web 🕸 of conditioning I have built since birth. Practicing presence has been like shining a torch 🔦 in the darkness, at first I thought it was a small room, then a big room, then a house 🏡 , now I am recognising perhaps its the biggest cave you could imagine. I have chucked out a LOT, cleaning the space as I go. As I practice .......
Which leads me to how I came to theme this weeks yoga practice. It made me slow down to have the asana show me what was in shadow, what I had not “seen”. I yield into my practice, into and out of each pose, and felt my body love the heaving oscillations between the shapes. It became a graceful dance, an unveiling of a butterfly out of it's cocoon...

This week in our series 40 Days of Wholesomeness we begin working on the heart and lungs.
This last week has been a real test on my heart and lungs. I went through quite a traumatic health scare with my mum coupled with some emotional experiences of my own and boy did my beautiful heart take a beating. What I noticed after all the hits it received was how well it kept beating and loving me just the same. I also noticed how the emotional toll on my heart affected my breathing. At the height of trauma my breath became short and shallow as I felt the full weight of fear and panic take over. As soon as I became aware of this I closed my eyes went within and began to take long slow deep breaths deep into my heart centre and I noticed how almost immediately my body started to calm and the weight of fear lift.
The heart is the epicentre of it all because this is where love resides and without love we are just empty shells. All our chakras and energy points must be fed with love from the heart in order to shine bright and sustain their life force and our divine breath is what sustains our heart.
When my dad was in his late 70s he was in hospital for open heart surgery. My dad hadn’t cried in 50 years since World War 2. After the war when he finally made it back to his town in Europe, he found out both his parents and most of his friends had been murdered. After his surgery he started to cry and he cried for a week, letting out all the grief of his loss and past pain that he had locked away inside because it was just to painful to feel. As his heart which had literally been opened in surgery stayed open, he changed overnight from a man who was closed, distant and self destructive to a loving caring person who became affectionate, present and devoted to his family. Such is the power of the heart..
Pent up grief, fear and primitive emotions such as anger block our heart from connecting and cause pain and stress that can have an adverse affect not only on our energy but also on our physical health.
The power of the heart is more powerful than any ego based emotion because it is the energy of love and as the old saying goes, love conquers all. ❤️

“i love myself.'
ever.” ~ @nayyirah.waheed ✨
i will return to this over and over again. i am so committed to living my life full out every day. i will not settle. i will feel. i will hurt. i will inspire. i will be brave. i will be tender. I will be strong. i will be still. i will de-armour. i will move with fire. i will shine unapologetically. I don't always make the best choices and I am so damn grateful I don't. i am more aligned with realness and texture as i merge my mess and magnificence then with having it easy. i desire. i long. i create. i sense more than i know. i will risk it all everyday, over and over again. my heart will always pour openly, even when i resist and worry how it will be interpreted. i am so grateful. so that when I take my last breath i can say i gave it everything. i put it all out there. i am empty. thank you.
let us all live with feverish and purposeful passion to embrace the fullness of the privilege of our human experience. be love. live love. give love.
LET GO OF PROGRESS AND PRACTICE FOR PRESENCE!
Why do you practice yoga? What is your intention? Does it lie in the shallow end of physcial progress and the ego boost of mastery? Or can it come from a deeper place?
I catch myself wavering between the two from moment to moment on my mat. My true intention is to stay in the present moment, to unite my mind and body. To witness every breath, every sensation. To give the tired mind a break and drop back into feeling rather than thinking. I get distracted when I see physical process. I find myself projecting into the past to a time where I couldn't touch my toes. And here I am, touching my toes. But does that feeling bring anything more than a fleeting sense of achievement? No, not really.
What brings me an abundance of happiness is being present, for every unique moment in my life. That is why I practice, that is my intention 🙏🏽 #yoga#yogadaily#yogasydney#asana#pranayama#meditation#mindbody#mindfullness
Are you an Emotional Empath or Sponge? Here few tricks to protect yourself
1. When you notice heavy emotion, start by labeling what you’re feeling.
Labeling helps to bring us into a state of pause, which can help us to gain a little distance from the emotional experience for a moment.
2. Ask yourself whether what you’re feeling is yours, someone else’s, or a mix of the two.
It can be difficult to discern the difference sometimes. One approach I like to take is if I think I might be feeling a particular person’s “stuff,” I’ll imagine the person as completely whole, content, and full of light. Then I’ll revisit my own experience and see if I still feel the same way.
3. The moment you catch yourself feeling emotions that aren’t yours, raise your awareness of what’s happening within you.
It can help to say the word “compassion” to yourself as a way of intentionally focusing on what you can do to be supportive rather than allowing yourself to be overpowered by emotion.
4. Take a deep breath and notice where in your body you feel the most calm, grounded, or neutral.
It might be as simple as your toe or finger. Bring your attention to that place in your body and allow it to be a centering force to keep you grounded while you process and release any feelings you may have absorbed. Sometimes just having one calm place in our body can serve as a resource when the rest of you is feeling overwhelmed.
5. Return the other person’s emotions to them.
It is not your responsibility to carry other people’s emotional distress, and equally important, it helps absolutely no one. Try saying to yourself, “if these emotional pain is not mine I let it go now.” Remember that other people have to go through their own processes in order to grow.
6. Use visualization to fully release the emotions.
On day 10 of , @kamaste_ gave us a cool variation of . For the life of me, I cannot do pistol squat 😨. My PT told me that because of my curved spine, pistol squat is just not accessible for me, another fun fact!!!, I can't even do weighted lunges either, trust me, I tried, so many times!!!.
Well, to tell you all the truth, I'm kinda glad I can't do these 2 exercises 🤣🤣🤣, they look effing hard 😅😆😆. Instead, may I present to you my Curtsy with a bent ankle instead, how is this one Your Majesty? 👑 (yes, I'm addicted to 'The Crown' , been binge watching it on the telly 📺, and I'm now watching the episode when the Queen met the Kennedys!).
