coming back to ourselves over and over this week. “i want to remind you yogis that as we navigate these and so many other (and worse) hardships here and everywhere that there is a place within you that is pure clean clear space. there is a deep inner space and you can go there anytime and rest in the innermost self. meditation or quiet contemplation of that deep space within can help dissipate the heaviness of whatever your struggle is.” @stephaniesnyderyoga #lovestoryyoga come to class and be in that space together
Life is a series of good and bad days. There is no promise of happiness but we do have control over our own happiness.
Hey! We can simply find happiness from the small things in our daily life. We have the choice to look at the positive side of things. Not only does it help you retain your happiness but it also creates space for lessons from that situation.
Calmness is a state of mind which could do wonders for your life.
Day 1 of #alofourfaves is #lizardpose
T A P A S - Severe self - discipline.
Day 3 of #NovemberNiyamas , I have chosen #Yoganidrasana
Tapas is the disciplined use of energy. It literally means heat the body & so cleanse it. Tapas helps us burn the desires that stands in our way of our goal.
Tapas builds the will power and personal strength to help us become more dedicated to our practice of yoga.
One way of doing this is paying attention to what we eat, how we breathe, the body posture.
During an asana like Yoganidrasana we can practice tapas by paying attention to the breath & body. By doing so we keep the body safe, keep opening the hips & eventually enter the final pose.
Garuda = the mythic "king of the birds," in both Buddhist and Hindu traditions. Eagle, which means "devourer," because Garuda was originally identified with the "all-consuming fire of the sun’s rays." ☀️.
It’s easy to find symbolism in birds. Poets have written about them, while mystics have revered them. In Buddhism, birds are used to teach ethics and concepts.
He represents the Buddhist view that enlightenment is possible.
He extends his wings without limits and soars fearlessly into space, he represents absolute confidence.
As the lord of the skies, Garuda is a symbol of the union of earth and sky ✨💫
Day 1️⃣6️⃣ of #pressingdreams with @cyogalife and my #yogabuddy @jolin.yoga . #firefly or #tittibhasana .🤸♂️❤️🌞
It used to be so hard for me to straighten my arms in this posture, while keeping my legs and butt up. It's so cool to see/feel the results of practice. Still working to find deeper bandha engagement and more control--that's a forever thing. But I'm also working on acknowledging and celebrating self- improvement along the way (without attaching to it 😊). It's a #practice .
What are you working on? ❤️🙃👷🤸♂️
This happened. I haven't practiced splits in months! However, I've been putting a whole lot of effort into opening my hip flexors. It has made vast difference in how I FEEL sitting in splits. It's no longer uncomfortable and less strenuous on the hamstrings. It's crazy how everything connects and work together ...
‘Bring your attention to your heart. Everything is within’. -Sri Dharma Mittra
My first attempts at “Skinning the Cat”. Was totally shitting myself but it worked out ok, it actually felt pretty good! Now I know the entry is rubbish but it’s a start
Shout out to @_brendanhoyer whose pretty awesome free e-book on handstands got me onto this drill to help open the shoulders
Week 46, day 3.
Asana: shoulder stretch.
One step further every day.
This year I have challenged myself to do yoga for at least 5 days a week this entire year and post a picture each time. I am starting to see some clear progress which is really motivating to keep going. Follow me on my journey.
