🌲Day 2 of the #arcfitnessproject#yogaforcharity challenge 🌲 Since moving to California, trees have brought a whole new outlook. Coming from the City of Trees (Boise, Idaho) to the variety here was surprising. I find myself looking up more. The trees have this feeling like they go on forever. What a great retreat they give to our mind and soul.

Day 4 of #junesoulbalances is #crowpose It just so happened that I had an in-depth discussion with my teacher @yo_gajju the other day on crow pose, specifically about my inability to hold it for more than a few seconds, either due to fear, lack of balance, strength, flexibility or all of the above. He showed me some prep poses to try which I found pretty helpful. Swipe to see the one where I round my back and try to hold my knees to my armpits. This shows me how my back and shoulders need to be in exactly the same position when I’m upside down. It’s all about muscle memory. Then he told me to try to hold the #babycrow for as long as I can, and try to relax my neck. My face is so close to the floor that I’m not really scared of falling out of the baby crow. And finally, to remember to engage the core, and protract my shoulder blades while in crow. I’ll need lots of practice to find balance and build the confidence that I WILL NOT fall 💪🏻 but I’ll get there •

You guys always ask about my fitness & workouts...
Here’s a little insight 🤗
My main workouts are yoga and jogging. However I do a lot of incidental exercise; walking around, bike rides, playing with the dogs, hiking, surfing etc
Reasons why I workout:
1. I can, therefore I shall!
2. Not to add days to my life, but to add life to my days!
3. Because it makes me feel AMAZING!
4. It makes me feel STRONG! (Mentally & physically)
5. It gives me CLARITY.
6. It gives me ENERGY.
7. It gives me a reason to smile.
8. It releases stress and tesnion, cultivating happiness and lightness of heart.
9. Releases endorphins that make me feel like a fairy princess haha
10. Moving my body has always been something I love doing.
11. Improves my overall health
12. Maintains my wellness and motivation in life!
13. Good excuse to get outside and absorb some vitamin D!
14. I love challenging and pushing myself!
15. It just makes life better!!!

Happy International Day of Yoga! I wanted to talk a bit about imposter syndrome in asana. Yoga is so much more than just poses, but I notice a lot of people, including me, get caught up on their asana ability. Yoga is what you make it. There is no right or wrong way to do a pose - maybe there can be safer ways to do poses - but as for depth, posture, duration, etc., that is all a work in progress. I went into my yoga teacher training worried that everyone would see right through me. I am not very flexible, and I knew NOTHING about yoga history, theory, beliefs, anatomy, etc. Pretty much everything I heard was a new concept, and ya know what? No one cared. They were all happy to share what they had learned, help me figure out my own path, and even learn from me some things I didn’t even know I could help with. Everyone has something to offer the yogic community. Don’t think that because you’re ‘chakras are out of line’ that you need to skip class. Because I didn’t even know what a chakra was until 2 months ago, haha. Let go of whatever judgement that’s stopping you. For asana, if you bring yourself to the mat, you are a yogi. Plain and simple.
Thank you @ronjasmountainlife for reminding me what today is so I could stop and appreciate all that I’ve learned and look forward to what’s in store.

Happy International Yoga Day!
I had a wonderful time this evening experiencing yoga alongside my fellow nashvillians!
Yoga is beautiful. Let's talk yoga.
First of all.. the lady in the photograph is NOT me.
Yes yoga is beautiful, but not from where I'm standing. I have my bottom in the air, the dog trying to play/bite my nose and the kids behind me saying, "Mam, your bum looks really big like that!" But I breathe. I breathe through this because yoga is beautiful.
I am new to yoga. I have done a 10minute practice for 5days. I don't even have a yoga mat yet. I don't need convincing, I already feel that yoga is beautiful...I just don't look beautiful doing it! That's ok. It feels beautiful.
I want to share this. I want to tell everyone. I feel proud of myself for making that shift. My body is thanking me. My head is confused about being upside down so often but my back likes it.
I also find it difficult to do a pose while watching the YouTube screen but that's all part of the fun too. I haven't actually fallen over or lost my balance yet so that's good. I am engaging my core.
I feel as though I look like the lovely lady in the photograph despite having never stood like that in my life. I feel as serene as she looks if nothing else.
I have enjoyed doing yoga this week. Yes, yoga is beautiful 💞

🧘♀️ I am a yoga newbie. Surely this is supposed to look differently but it felt good like this so I held it. I love how yoga is a expressive movement of self. It’s a key component to the rehabilitation of my back injury. Making me stronger, more Flexible, adding mobility, guiding me in the direction of peace. It kept me sane (ish). I believe wholeheartedly that every CrossFitter would benefit from the practice. Happy international Yoga day. Happy International Yoga Day!! 🧘♀️ It’s only fitting that I could barely complete class this morning due to rib pain. I think it’s only the second time that I’ve actually considered leaving...mostly because I can’t make myself just lay down, yet every move hurts. 😑 Nevertheless, Yoga has had a significant impact on my life, and I am grateful for all of my teachers. 💙
