I have been following @garagegymgirl and her #handstand preps ~ going back to old school. For some reason I’m not getting the hold I would like. I have only myself to blame but it’s still frustrating. .
I thought I could accomplish this on my own ~ I mean you are just going upside down, right ~ How hard can it be 😳😳. .
Yes, I have had @catbradleyyoga show me amazing drills to achieve handstand but it’s my fault for not continuing them on a daily basis 🤦🏼♀️. .
Below is one of the pointers that @garagegymgirl gave yesterday. I decided to try it out. At first I was beyond frustrated b/c I could not get up!!! After a few good kick ups and a million horrible ones......I gave up. I know I have tried these before but I went back to my old ways. .
I came home and realized I didn’t want to give up ~ I want to conquer this entry. .
The top two squares are at work (short & sweet). The bottom two are when I came home. I’m happy and will continue to try everyday!!! From @garagegymgirl :
*Begin with your hands on the floor, shoulder width apart and index fingers pointing forward (this hand position is a good place to start even if later you decide that a different position works better for you)
*Set your shoulder over your balance point, roughly 1 cm below your knuckle. As you kick up your shoulders stay in the same place and your body will simply rotate around your shoulders. *Ensure that your weight is in your hands.
*Bring your front foot close to your hands. The further back it is the further your body will have to move to get upside down.

🚨Inversion Workshop Announcement!
Lightness in Inversions: Learn to Fly & Float with Ease
Just like any other yoga pose, inversions should feel light with equal amounts of effort and ease. The work to finding that balance is mainly in creating awareness and understanding of the deep, subtle flows of energy (prana) within the body.
This workshop explores the concept of how deep yogic locks (mula bandha, uddiyana bandha) and extension of energy (prana) in the body can create effortless steadiness in a pose. Through the practice we will work on discovering how the awareness of the breath and these elusive locks can sustain energy, ignite deep strength from within and promote a sense of steadiness - both in the body and the mind.
This workshop aims to provide you with the necessary tools in creating consciousness in various parts of the body - first through some of the key grounding yoga poses - and eventually translating that same experiential knowledge into the inversion practice.
• Breath, Bandhas and Pranayama
• Finding Uplift (bandha & prana awareness) in Grounding Poses
• Maintaining Uplift in Inversions (e.g.: headstand, crow pose, handstand, forearm stand)
• Those who are looking to start, or have just started, exploring inversions in their yoga practice
• Those who are looking to deepen their practice by understanding the relationship between the poses (asana) and other parts of the yoga philosophy (breath, bandhas, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana)
• Suitable for those with at least 3 months of consistent yoga practice.
• Note: A student does not need to be able to hold an inversion (headstand/handstand) to participate in the workshop.
