This pose is called “I don’t know what pose to do tonight.” Because it’s like that most of the time. Lately I feel that people are ashamed to tell me they’re In a rut, like yoga teachers don’t ever get In ruts or were exempt from being stuck. Well I’m here to tell you that we absolutely feel what you feel. Actually, we’re In “a rut” more than you are and we know that because we see how often you practice and how much you show up. Being a yoga teacher does not mean we live a perfect lifestyle full of yoga and health. Being a yoga teacher doesn’t mean you meditate all day, smile, laugh and drink kale juice for breakfast. We go to Dunkin’ Donuts. We eat pizza. We sleep through our alarms. We get STUCK and feel helpless. We feel pain and we feel loss and when we step on our mats we feel frustrated more often than not. We pray to visit our mat more often than we do. We work full time, we don’t get enough sleep, we stay out late and we curse. We get it. That’s why we can relate to you. That’s why yoga Is a community. There Is no one above anyone, no one ahead or behind. No one Is racing to the finish line. We are all on our own journey, and if you’re lucky, your journey mixes with someone else’s journey, whose may be similar to yours. So please. TELL ME about your rut and how you feel like putting one foot In front of the other some days Is a struggle. We hear you 🙏🏼

Paramahansa Yogananda .

Today’s arm and shoulder day ended in a lot of stretching and foam rolling. I’ve been having a pain issue for about 2 months from my neck to mid back and finally giving in to getting this checked out soon. Anyway, I foam rolled my back, and then proceeded to some yoga/stretching. Really listened to the body and what it needed today. That being said, I am excited to say that I am almost back to full range of motion on my yoga flow. This has taken several months to get back post surgery, so yay! My chaturanga won’t be weak sauce for much longer :) @team_eqx @equinox
Passive stretching (hanging, pulling or leaning with complete relaxation) increases risk of injury as the targeted muscle may not be totally relaxed and thus more likely to tear, or not release its tension adequately. Active stretching (tensing the opposite or antagonist muscle while the targeted muscle is lengthened) is not only safer, but more effective because the antagonist contraction fully relaxes the targeted muscle through the neurological principle of reciprocal inhibition.
In the hamstring stretch pictured, this passive stretch can be made active by tensing the quads to emphasize straightening the knee.
Other active stretching styles include reaching with the body part with active effort , active mobilizations, and warmup movements of specific sport motions that emphasize progressively greater ranges of motion as the warmup progresses.
Adding these active style stretches to your fitness routine will improve your flexibility gains and decrease your injury risk.

✨I find a lot of happiness within myself when I invert ✨Maybe its because it reminds me of my childhood or maybe it’s just because it’s really fun to flip your perspective and go upside down. ✨ Whatever it may be I’m extremely grateful I’ve found something that helps me connect with myself ✨ Day 4 of the #AutumnYogiFavorites is your favorite inversion. Here is a variation mine ✨
Pose line up:
Day 1- Favorite stretch
Day 2- Favorite pose with a prop
Day 3- Favorite flying pose/arm balance
Day 4- Favorite inversion
Day 5- Favorite resting pose/yin pose
I have been seriously neglecting my yoga recently. It’s so like me to commit fully to something for a few months and then get preoccupied or busy. @jords.stewart got my head back into the right space this week and reminded me of the importance of holistic happiness. Finally being happy in my work is amazing but my body needs to be happy to! .
So let’s see how long I can stick at it this time... 💪🏻
T R I A N G L E P O S E.
Day 2 Uttihita Trikonasana.
I definitely did this pose already on here, but now I’m doing it with the proper training. I think picture number 1 is stronger 🤔. Either way, I need to open my chest a bit more and maybe take a wider stance! In due time 😌. Practice makes perfect! :
B E N E F I T S
• Relieves backaches • Relieves neck sprains • strengthen ankles
