'Relaxing is not easy for me. Neither is being present. My mind is so active that thoughts distract me just a few seconds into meditation and continue to pop up throughout. But I wasn’t always aware of this. I use to think that my busy mind = intelligence. But, I have started to see how an active mind actually blinds me from reality, specifically beauty in myself and my surroundings.
The last 24 hours at @thelibrary_samui have been a true gift. Just enough time to take a deep breath, spend some quality time with the kids (and a bit with myself), and recharge for our last week here at our 300hr Teacher Training. How do you recharge quickly?' .

Practices like yin or restorative yoga are more about slow movement and resting in poses for long periods of time, which may be more appropriate as active recovery.
But even in those classes, there may be poses or positions that push your body in ways that aren’t ideal for recovery, so always ask for modifications if something doesn’t feel right. (There aren't any specific anti-recovery poses that everyone should avoid as it's individual. - The importance of focus -
If you are new to the practice of yoga, or if you are working on new postures that your body is not used to yet, drishti can be utilized in its purely physical and mechanical expression.
The first thing that drishti offers you in your yoga practice is balance. If you are in a posture that is challenging your balance or your ability to not fall face first to the floor, drishti is your best friend.
Having a clear focus point when attempting vrksasana (tree pose) can mean the difference between a strong standing tree and a "timber" moment. This focused view will help you find your center and connect with the stability within your own body.
