With our goal to serve and provide you with what you need our 60 minute classes are back, and adjusting a few start times, we hope these changes are just right for you. Yoga can be a workout too, and actually mostly - it is! ⠀
I used to practice only the 'stretchy' kind because i've always been more flexible than strong, I really don't like the gym and struggle with going to exercise classes so decided to ramp up my yoga practice and my god it feels good. I was scared of it to begin with though, hardly ramped it up until year 2 of practice. But I wanted to become stronger so knew somewhere along the line, this stubborn mule had to change.⠀
So ramped it up I did! (And my Tuesday morning classes will know exactly what I mean ;). ⠀
Yoga can be hard, really hard and beautifully strengthening, but you have to be willing to change something and let go of the fear that holds you back - it's Halloween soon, and I'm all about scaring myself and doing it the right way. Scared of change and want to know how to overcome that?⠀

Grateful to be at Palm Springs with the lovely @aloyoga family, in a room full of people I have admired for years. This photo was actually taken in Egypt exactly this time last year before my first retreat. So much has changed since then... and I am feeling so inspired to continue to grow into the woman I am meant to become.
We started the day today with a beautiful yoga class led by @caleyalyssa and I felt incredibly connected to my body again - I forgot about the things I “used” to do and how different it is now, I felt fully present in my new, strong and healthy body.

HOW we practice is just as important as WHAT we practice. Like every posture, squat posture can be incredibly beneficial - it can help to stretch our quadriceps, glutes, lower back, hamstrings and achilles. And, if we sink and sit in to gravity in this pose, we can compress our hips and lower back (not ideal)...⠀
When I used to have back pain, this posture would immediately put my low back in to spasm. It was because of HOW I was practicing the posture, not the posture itself. Remember, every posture is healing, depending on how we practice it. ⠀
In squat, press your heals down in to the floor, and think of using your legs and glutes as if you're going to stand up. Your hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes and pelvic floor muscles will engage. Lift yourself up at least an inch or two higher than your lowest point of flexibility here, so you're RESISTING gravity. Remember, in every standing posture, don't try to go as low or deep as possible - that will compress your hips and lower back. ⠀
Try it out and let me know how squat works for you with resistance!⠀

Um dia, um professor que admiro imenso comentou com a turma: “Todos os dias surpreendo-me por vocês regressarem às minhas aulas.” Na altura achei um pensamento descabido, tendo em conta tudo aquilo que aprendia sempre que estava com ele.
Não me comparo nem de longe à sua experiência mas sempre que dou uma aula tenho esse pensamento.
Depois percebo que as pessoas que vêm ao meu encontro, vêm por duas razões: porque têm algo a aprender (não comigo mas com a experiência da prática) e porque têm algo a ensinar-ME.
Todas as aulas são uma aprendizagem e uma das coisas que aprendi foi que não tenho realmente alunos. Os alunos são, também, professores. E chegam um dia e no outro dia poderão já não voltar.
Os alunos regressarão às minhas aulas enquanto fizer sentido para eles.
Tudo é uma experiência passageira.
Então, enquanto essa experiência fizer sentido, que faça. E enquanto existir, que se desfrute na sua plenitude.
