When I was on this internal journey, I remember climbing up the Dawn Wall in Yosemite. When I got to the top there was a little tree frog looking down at me offering his hand! We ended up watching the sunset together overlooking the national park ๐Ÿž

The tree frog came to me all those years ago, and over the past couple of months Iโ€™ve reconnected with his power. Itโ€™s been a beautiful time and Iโ€™m so thankful that @kirkbudden made him a part of my body! Thank you so much man, it means so much to me ๐Ÿธ

This is a SUPER VULNERABLE share!! getstretchy with REAL TALK! Iโ€™ve been debating on posting this for four months!! What made me pull the trigger NOW? Since itโ€™s halfway in the year, I revisited my (scary) goals this weekend and here are my top 3 goals: 1. Being totally and unapologetically myself; 2. Being totally vulnerable in my life and with you, because the more i can be transparent and not be attached to any outcome of what may come of it, the more I can radically love myself, the more I feel compassion for other people, and the more unionized I am with humans. My 3rd goal Iโ€™m working on is to not take things personally, meaning someoneโ€™s experience of me is their experience, and thatโ€™s it. I can still learn from the feedback and grow, but I donโ€™t let it bring me down. Now the reason I didnโ€™t want to post this โ€œimperfectโ€ picture of myself is because Iโ€™m making up a story in my head that Iโ€™ll be less powerful, less liked, less revered, less all these things if I donโ€™t show up perfect. BUT, I get to be myself and wholeheartedly love myself, no matter what, and that begins with loving the dimples in my butt. ๐Ÿ‘ This picture did inspire me to start up my butt workouts again, because Iโ€™ll be honest I havenโ€™t been doing them in this last year, but now Iโ€™ve started back up again and itโ€™s fun, and from a place of love, and a new challenge for myself. Can anyone else relate to this? Iโ€™d love to hear from you ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝโค๏ธ

Physical balance is so SO important for all ages. If we lose this our chances of falls increase and this becomes a huge risk as we grow older. โ €โ €
So practice balancing regularly. In fact you have zero excuse not to do it daily.

Waiting for the kettle to boil? Balance on one leg. โ €โ €

The reason for arm balances in my practice? Wrist strength, challenge, fun and overcoming fear. Just work up slowly to develop the wrist strength over time.

Picture taken today in Sri Lanka at a Buddhist temple โ€”โ€” Once dwelling in Savatthi, the Buddha extolled the virtue of charity by way of the popular tale, which narrates the traditional account of the mark of the hare on the moon.

In one of his pervious births the Bodhisatta was born as a hare in Varanasi. He had three friends โ€“ a monkey, a jackal and an otter. Together they resolved to practise charity on the Uposatha day (the day of fast), that was to occur on the following day. In the tradition it was believed that one who stood fast in moral practice and alms-giving on that day would earn a great reward.
Next day, the otter brought seven red fishes abandoned on the bank of the Ganga river. The jackal wrongfully pilfered a lizard and a pot of milk-curd from somebodyโ€™s house. The monkey brought a bunch of mangoes. All these three were willing to offer their gifts to some beggar as act of charity. But the hare, when browsing the grass, felt that the grass would not be a good item for alms-giving. He, therefore, decided to offer his entire body in charity.

The hareโ€™s resolve disturbed Lord Sakka (Indra), the king of the deva-s. To examine the hareโ€™s virtue he came down on the earth in the guise of an ascetic and accosted the hare for food. The hare was delighted, because this provided him an opportunity to exemplify his highest act of sacrifice, which a mortal could ever perform. So, he asked the ascetic to pile the logs of wood and kindle the fire, where he would jump to offer his roasted meat to the latter.

When Sakka caused the heap of burning coals to appear, the hare shook himself thrice lest there were any insect in his fur. Thus, offering his whole body he fell on the heap of the burning twigs.

The fire, however, did not burn him. Impressed with the act, Sakka revealed his identity and applauded the hareโ€™s virtue. He said `O wise hare! Be thy virtue known through out this whole aeon!โ€ He then by squeezing the mountain daubed the sign of hare on the orb of the moon with its extracted essence.

We thus see the mark of the hare still visible on the moon to tell the saga of the Great Sacrifice.

Eka pada bakasana is taking me a really long time to learn but entering from down dog, keeping the back leg extended and floating it up has been a real game changer. It helps you work out how much you need to lean forward and counterbalance in order for your leg to float up. Preparation for birth and beyond workshop for women and their birth partners. 
We will explore breath, movement (always adaptable so no expectations of experience or flexibility) and massage. This is all stuff that Iโ€™ve developed from over a decade of teaching pregnancy and post-natal yoga and through my own experience with brewing, birthing and transitioning to being parent of my four children. It also includes techniques I developed to support my husband to best support me. So that I felt grounded in my breath and body so that I could drop into my most primal, powerful self, a place of deep trust. So that he could come into a space of trusting himself and his unique role as my chosen birth partner and that he had the tools to hold the space for me both during and after the birth of our babies. 
I can honestly say that giving birth for me was the most romantic thing I have ever done. 
I can also say that I can not guarantee this experience for another woman, as none of us can predict what kind of birth will evolve. I can however offer tools to help ease the discomforts of pregnancy and birth, to help with anxiety, to help with self care and acceptance, and to empower women to feel connected and attuned to their experience whatever that is.

EYES WIDE SHUT

Itโ€™s been a few months since Iโ€™ve done this but todayโ€™s classes are all going to be with the eyes shut. โ €โ €โ € โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €

As a student it can be scary at first; thoughts of โ€˜am I doing it right?โ€™ and really having to listen. Feedback is always how after 10 minutes or so those feelings fade and that listening becomes a lot easier. Taking a way a sense heightens the others, but the sense I love people feeling is the sense of self. You get to really notice what is going on in the body. โ € โ € โ €

As a teacher itโ€™s a challenge. Firstly the cues need to be clear and simple. It can be quite a test of your language skills! Then fully allowing students to do their interpretation without assisting can test the ego. The only time I would do that is if someone was putting themselves in some sort of risk. The rewards are wonderful though. Seeing people experience something in a new light (or rather, dark), but also seeing the different interpretations of whatโ€™s been said. โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”

i love progress pics and I finally have one of my own for a good and fair comparison -both shuts where taken without prior warmups.(my body gets warmed up quickly as i take out door shuts because Singapore is very warm tropical country..but please donโ€™t follow my poor example ๐Ÿ™ˆalways warm up first!)and i was quite suprised at the difference.guess all that hippy work paid off. ๐ŸŒˆ PS:Thank you all for your love

Day 12 of #omstarsashtangachallenge and #mayurasana or peacock pose. I have few things to share about this one. Posted three variations- the full variation is the hardest, second one  with legs in #padmasana is easier as makes the body more compact and easier to lift, the last one with flexed knees is easy, you only need to find the inner balance, strength and you must have a healthy wrists! Another personal thing that I want to share is how different my abdomen feels after going through #pregnancy transformation. Not even two years ago I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Melody Valentina on Christmas Day(my best present ever!), ever since my yoga practice is something I take gradually and in slow pace, never rushed to go back to my old self. Big realisation was that am changed forever and the acceptance began, loving and liking my new self. Takes time, am patient. One think that I strongly decided is to practice every day, even for 10 min a day. This is my daily ritual to connect with all beyond me, to merge with all. This exact feeling through my practice gave me something that recharges me and sets my intention, this blissful feeling makes me calmer, loving and I believe a better version of me. To start with only do 2 minutes a day until it becomes a habit, and then you can start adding more time. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Make it enjoyable. Choose your favourite poses or exercises to begin with. Youโ€™re more likely to repeat it if you enjoy it. Over time you can then make it more challenging once the habit is formed.

Becoming a increasing fan of going upside down. At first I use to have fears of it due to shoulder imbalances and weakness.

But like anything, the body adapts becomes stronger and my shoulder and front plane of my body is starting to open up the more I threw myself into trying it. After years of core work and general life causing rounded and a tight front.

Throwing and bowling for years had left my it difficult to get good range in my shoulder extension. Through drills, poses and time the progress feels great! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Yoga Therapy โ€“ The stair-step breath practice, good for anxiety and depression.

This mildly energising breath practice is adapted from work by Amy Weintraub, renowned Yoga Therapist. The practice occupies the mind so is good for anxiety and depression.
๐Ÿƒ
It is not however recommended if you have had recent abdominal or chest surgery. If pregnant, do not practice breath retention.
๐Ÿƒ
Sit in a comfortable posture, breathing comfortably in and out through both nostrils.
๐Ÿƒ
Begin by inhaling through the nostrils little steps of the breath, say 4-6, like you are climbing a mountain.
๐Ÿƒ
If it is comfortable, retain the breath (up to 4 counts) at the top of the mountain, imagine you are looking out at something beautiful. If holding the breath is not comfortable, breath naturally.
๐Ÿƒ
Exhale the breath out of the nostrils, slide down the mountain, to the count of 6. That is, the exhalation is slightly longer then the inhalation.
๐Ÿƒ
Repeat steps 1-3, three more times. Pause, absorb the practice and observe breath and mind.

Now take an elevator up the mountain, a smooth 4-6 count breath. Retain the breath (up to 4 counts) at the top of the mountain, and imagine you see something that makes your heart smile.

Then step down the mountain by exhaling little puffs of the breath out, usually 6-10.

Repeat steps 5-7, three more times. Pause, absorb the practice and observe breath and mind.
