People keep talking about “finding their passion.” Quite frankly, it’s a concept I struggle with 🙄.
Is “finding your passion” figuring out what you love doing? I love eating hot jilebis and jamuns. Could eating hot jilebis be my passion? 😁
There are so many things that we may love doing like - listening to loud music
- running or sweating it out
- chatting with an old friend
- closing a deal
- going for concerts
- helping out someone .
I feel many people (including me) struggle with narrowing it down to ONE thing that “our passion” is. So instead, I just try to do any one thing that makes me come alive EVERYDAY. For instance, I love writing.
I’ve been writing since I was 12 years old. While I do not always get time to write for fun or for leisure, I try to write on work related topics so that
a) I can justify to myself that my time has been used wisely 😉
b) I find time to prioritise it and
c) there is pressure on me to complete it.
I often write for newspapers and trade journals as it kills two birds in one stone. It takes care of my love to write and I can use writing as a tool to further my business.
I’m thrilled that this article has been published in entrepreneur.com – one of my most favourite websites, whose articles I read almost every day. To read this article, click link in bio! .
In Round About the Earth (a fab book, btw!) author Joyce Chaplin writes about the first non-stop sailing race around the world. “The three best known contestants had different responses to the challenge. The man tipped as the winner, Frenchman Bernard Moitissier, already famous as a yachtsman and author, went to sea to escape humanity.” “At the other extreme, British engineer, Donald Crowhurst, a weekend sailor, entered the race to advertise his flagging electronics business. In between these opposites was Robin Knox-Johnstone, a sociable fellow, a navy man, and patriotic Briton—he went to sea for the queen, country, and Commonwealth.” Three very different men. Three very different endings. All full of wisdom from the deep blue sea. #boatlife#sailing#aroundtheworld#circumnavigators#circles#writinglife#sailors#writingroom
This is my space where I work on this novel of my heart. The beautiful antique desk was a wedding gift from my husband. This is a cherished spot.
Since I was 7 or 8 I've been creating characters and storylines in my head. The dream to be a writer was locked into my heart when I was 9 and turned in a short story to my teacher. I had never seen him so animated or excited about anything. He crazy-laughed then "published" it on our school district's website. I knew I would be a writer someday. .
Though practical voices questioned my dreams I remained faithful to them, and God is finally blessing me with the kind of story I've always dreamed of writing. And this is my life, it's what I get to do with my days! .
What childhood dream lies dormant in your heart, waiting to be fulfilled?
The #writingcave now has a beautiful new blind! It will make such a difference when the sun is streaming in first thing in the morning, and I can’t see the computer screen and am about to melt at my desk. It also makes it look super smart. Hello, lovely blind!
Special time writing with @mattredmanmusic today in Belfast. Love the way he faithfully guards the values, always keeps the main thing the main thing, and steps out creatively in the ways he writes and leads! thanks mate! ... a good day!
Pining for my old office! Currently writing (deciding on paint colours for new office)in the bedroom. Am thinking I’m gonna go full whimsical library: dark walls, festoon lights, gold picture frames, velvet sofa and aaalllll of the books.
#colors#work#writingroom#musical#confettis 🌈✨🌸 #romytestunefemmefrancaise
