✨Authors!✨ Who believes in you? 🙋🏽 I do. That's who! 👊🏽 So:
If you stopped, start again.
Don't give up. 📚
We're a community and we're in this together. I understand everything you're going through. Please keep pursuing your dream. 🤷🏽♀️This photo of me pretty much sums up my day.📝😊
I gotta say I’ve felt this shoulder grab hard over the last couple of years. The faster life speeds up (I feel like motherhood has 3x it) the more all of my excuses for not “going for it” feel like BS.
No one ever said you had to get it all right (or if they did, they were wrong). Our faults don’t negate our gifts. The only way to misuse a gift is to NOT USE IT.
What BS excuses do you want to ditch today?
Reality checks //
The burden on my shoulders is making me feel like I’m drowning,
These words maybe synonyms but right now they describe how I feel.
My body is tired of living on four hours of sleep,
my brain is exhausted beyond its capacity,
my splitting migraines have left me no choice but to make a trip to the doctor.
The most important of all, I’m tired.
Tired of being the machine who wakes up at five am & stands under a cold shower to awaken my senses.
Tired of trying to keep things under control.
Tired of fearing that if I don’t achieve my target for the day, I’m taking a step towards failure.
Tired of being a mom to my brother guiding him every step of the way, like being the eldest is emotionally draining.
Tired of talking to myself in the mirror each morning & telling myself I got this.
Tired of all the negative energy around me & the toxic people who I’m trying to get rid off.
Tired of feeling that I’m not even ten percent close to the goals that I have for myself.
Tired to the extent that my words don’t even make sense to me anymore.
Emotionally. Physically. Mentally.
Our guest this week is nothing short of self-publishing royalty - the Queen of Kindle herself @ljross_author
Louise left a past life in law (sound familiar?) to take some time deciding what it was she wanted to do with her life. What she wanted, she concluded, was to write books.
She launched her debut novel in 2015 without much in the way of a marketing push, but word of mouth created a snowball effect that propelled her book to number one. Now, in 2018, she has three million book sales to her name.
That’s an average of one million books sold every year.
As she prepares to launch her ninth novel, Louise talks to us about the importance of remaining an individual even when learning from a community of other writers, and identifying exactly what it is you want to achieve as an author. She also sheds some light on how valuable it is to know your readership, and to engage with them as frequently as possible.
You can listen to the podcast via the SPF App, via iTunes or Stitcher. You can also watch on You Tube. .
When my editing brain refuses to shut off, a kitchen towel becomes my best friend. As does spell check... but hey, whatever works, right? 😂😂
How do you overcome editor brain??
It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture. She doesn't have to know all the details. She might not say exactly the right thing...
But when I'm drowning in the middle of life if I look around, she is always there with her hand outstretched trying to rescue me once again!
Because we just need each other!!
I have a new post up on @herviewfromhome about how I just could not do life without girlfriends and I'd love to have you give it a read. Link in the bio.
It's still surreal to think you can actually find my memoir at a Barnes and Noble store. Such a dream. I recently saw these copies at one of their locations. If you haven't checked out Georgia Haven yet, you can order it online, thru me for a signed copy (ask me how), or pick up a copy at the Kennesaw/Marietta location (as pictured above) or Buckhead in Georgia. If you live in Miami, Miracle Mile also has copies. For those of you who have read my book, stay tuned for a live Q&A coming up on the 6-month publication release later this month. 😃 Send me your questions now! Looking forward to interacting with some of you very soon.
