I was talking to a woman in the gym who has competed in several fitness competitions. She was frustrated. She won her first show got her Procard and the last 3 shows hadn't placed. I told her that's the problem, you won too soon. Fitness and working out has been my life. I'm an 80s chick. Taught aerobics, worked in gyms, trained others for many years. But women's fitness competitions are new to me. I only competed in one show placed in top 5. Was I satisfied? Well the show didn't go as planned (literally) somewhat botched and it was more of a beauty fashion show. I really didn't understand this when I was told that this was the show for me! I did all that stuff in my younger years, beauty queen, bikini model, actress/singer, so the costumes and gowns, sexy walks and twirls didn't impress me. The idea of building a body does. Did I choose the wrong competition? Maybe. I also wasnt aware that there was no prize money for the winners. Ummm, what? It never occurred to me to ask that question I just assumed there was! Like a pageant friend said to me "never enter a competition unless there is money in it for you". Now you have to consider the competition you decide to enter. Some organizations have only 35+ category and not higher in age. Hmmmn, interesting (eyebrow raiser for sure) While others have 35, 40, 50, and even 60+ age categories. So here is a new competitor gets her procard at her first show! Well doll face hate to break it to you but the odds are now against you to win again. I see a pattern all the time now. Unless you decide to up your level and do whatever needs to be done (read between the lines) to win again, you will always stay in the shadows and burn a hole in your wallet. The pro division is fierce, these women come from all over the world and other states. You will be disappointed, crushed, and confused. That first win killed it for you. By winning early on, your ego has heightened and you will be determined to win again and again. I call it the gamblers addiction. You keep putting in that money in the slot machine and it gives you a little hope so you keep on putting a little more and more. You cant stop. And who ultimately is the winner?
