BEFORE IT BREAKS, FIX IT!
Get it right the first time around by addressing these common mistakes in your exercise/training regime:
➕Working out without purpose or direction: A workout should have an objective. Consider each a stepping-stone towards achieving your final physique or health goal. For example, burning approximately x number of calories or gaining y% strength for z bodypart/s or increasing workout volume by x reps for each exercise etc.
➕Not measuring progress with actual metrics: Ties in with the above, generally speaking, if you're planning to get somewhere, you need to know what you're doing is getting you closer to the end goal.
➕Overcomplicating things: Get your fundamentals in check. It's not as hard as it looks, the fundamental principles of exercise and nutrition are simple and effective. Ask for help from an experienced trainer if you don't know what they are (don't just do the same diet/program as your best bud "cause he/she got skinny/shredded on it"). 😂
➕Not warming up correctly: Static stretching before your workout has been shown to decrease performance and even increase chances of injury, instead do dynamic stretches, a moderate intensity 5 min cardio session and high volume warm-up sets.
➕Not training hard enough: You can probably do one more rep (but don't always train till complete failure).
➕Doing boring workouts: If you're not enjoying at least some aspect of your exercise, the chances are you'll have trouble sticking to it. Vary your training and if there's something you enjoy, do more of it. Also, remember you can grow a healthy addiction to training out of thin air, so don't just give up after a few lame workouts- keep at it and see what happens!

I posted this on my personal wall but glsdI got the results from my three month doctor appointment. Good news, my A1C, along with my Glucose has gone done for the third straight visit. My triglycerides had dropped by 291 points yet still high as all my numbers are still high but went from diabetes to pre diabetes levels. I still need to work on my nutrition these next 3 months but I could get to where off medications and trending in the right direction!! I got the results from my three month doctor appointment. Day 10 of 21 Day Fix Extreme workouts is with Pilates Fix Extreme. It was a bit awkward at times because it wasn’t easy to adjust to the bands. During the Superman’s the band was shorter on my left side than it was on my right which made it uncomfortable. I had to pause it several times but I still love the Superman move. My abs were killing me during this workout! It felt way more intense than it did last week. I’m not a huge Pilates fan but this workout is growing in me. The leg stuff didn’t seem as challenging this week but the Ab section was a killer!
The #summerslamwiththebeast workout I completed today is Build: Shoulders with Wall Sits with Curls. The front raises was such a challenge today but I grunted and gave my all. Plus the Sagi Six Way was awesome! I went up to 10 pounds on this one! Finally I completed the Wall Sits with Curls. My arms were sore but I liked it! #inittowinit
Day 42! Happy Thursday🎉 I hope everyone had a fabulous day✨ I sure did! I was able to get some grocery shopping done which is always a big relief. Very excited about the groceries I got🤩
With my work I have a lot of early mornings, so I am thankful for Advocare’s Spark (specifically fruit punch flavor💞) For breakfast I had my chocolate mocha meal replacement shake. Delicious.
All you need is a barbell (without the added weights/plates), some space, and twenty minutes from your busy schedule to get an efficient and effective workout! The key is to maximize the reps and minimize rest while still maintaining proper form to prevent injuries. (Nothing is more demoralizing than sustaining an injury that could sideline you for weeks!) #weightloss#fitness#workouts
Nikki do you love me?? 😂😂 But on the real, if calisthenics movements are starting to get too easy, you can always add weight.
By definition calisthenics is body weight exercises so if you really wanna follow the rules and use zero weights you can always just increase your bodyweight(bulk). But that only goes so far until you start getting fat.
I personally have no problem using weights, in this case a medicine ball, to make my calisthenics movements more challenging.... just make sure your form is on point so you don’t injure yourself.
People would always ask me how I managed to shed 40 lbs. of excess weight (read: fats!), to which I’d reply: it’s a combination of a sensible diet, adequate rest, and a workout plan that’s both effective and efficient. Bad news is that there are no shortcuts or magic formula. The great news is that if I could do it, everyone else can too! I’d be happy to share the details, perhaps over coffee or even during a run, but for now, this IG post will have to suffice :) #weightloss#fitness#workouts
