The deadlift is a hip hinge exercise where we pull weight directly off the floor. Yes, it can be incredibly beneficial as long as the proper steps are taken from the beginning.

When people get injured deadlifting it is either from improper form or overloading the movement causing a form breakdown.

To ensure you are preparing yourself properly follow this progression scheme.

Before doing any type of deadlift, always pattern the hip hinge. It is a very basic exercise that can go a long way in your progress.

With all of these movements ensure your spine is neutral, core is engaged, and weight is distributed evenly through the foot. Hips are always going to remain higher than the knees to ensure the correct muscles are working.

When should you progress up? That is a decision you will have to make for yourself. I would say once you are proficient and have been progressing weight for a few weeks it is time to progress. By no means do you only need to be doing one type of deadlift. I work in multiple variations into my training because I like to mix it up.

Day 174/365: I always like to finish bicep workouts with a burnout and these 🔥🔥 Also, ➡️swipe➡️. - You don’t have to go heavy on this one since you are burning out. - Alternately curl each arm. With each flexion, squeeze and pause for a second or two while focusing on the muscle. - For the alternate arm that currently is not flexing, do not let go of the tension and keep it static towards the bottom of the extension. - Do this until failure. Your arms will feel like they are about to fall off.
