Community is everything! One of the reasons we chose our hometown is because it felt like a tightknit, family friendly place. This week I really felt a part of that!🏠
Owning a business that I can work around my family has afforded me a heck of a lot more than just a sweet paycheck (although it's really helping with these Christmas bills!😉) It has allowed me to be that dependable neighbor and school volunteer that I always dreamed of being! When a neighbor and family friend had an emergency this week, I was able to watch her child for a few hours to lend a hand. When our local elementary school needed parent volunteers to work a festive Holiday Boutique, I offered without a second thought. With each passing event I've gained so many new friends and a support network that I'll be able to rely on when I'm the one in need. The icing on the cake is getting to see my boys' faces light up when mommy visits them at school. How lovely!😍😘❤
Saying yes to this business has given me the freedom to say yes to all of them: my boys, my school community and my neighbors. What do you wish you could say yes to? Is it an exotic family vacation? Or how about moving from full time to part time at your job? R+F was the answer for me. What if it could be the answer for you too?
Why, hello King Friday and the REAL SET FROM MR RODGERS NEIGHBORHOOD. To say @dmfnc and I were excited to see this would be an understatement. A little slice of my childhood. #wontyoubemyneighbor#heinzmuseum
These three. 😍 THIS is how you do Christmas in Florida.
We don't have snow. We don't have sleigh rides. We don't have snow boots and ski hats.
But we DO have outdoor festivals, big old cutout trees, and lots of Christmas cheer.
That's my little guy on the bottom right. And that's pretty much the face he makes 98% of the time. (He's 3, so the other 2% is full on tantrum)
And those other two? Well they belong to some of the best neighbors ever. And luckily they put up with a wild, energetic three year old following them around and wanting to play with them.
We truly lucked into an amazing neighborhood - it makes leaving our one-of-a-kind neighborhood in Atlanta a little bit less painful.
We love, love, love life in St Pete, but we were worried that we'd never find another Horseshoe Bend (where we lived in Atlanta) and all the amazing neighbors that go with it. Well, we did.
Neighborhoods in Florida are funny. They're not defined as clearly as they are in Atlanta. So someone who isn't my "neighbor" is a much closer drive than someone who *was* my neighbor in Atlanta. So it's kind of comparing apples to oranges.
All I know is, we've got great friends on our street, on the next street, a few streets over, even a few minutes' drive. But somehow, St Pete makes everyone feel like your neighbor.
And that's even more special at Christmastime. I'm tagging a few neighbors from over the years that are truly, truly special. I'll even do a few shoutouts in the comments as to WHY I think they're such great neighbors.
Now if I can convince you all to build a little commune here in St Pete, that would be amazing! Anyone up for it?
Tag your neighbors below - I want to know why they're the best!!!
When I first found out I was pregnant, I had so many thoughts all at once. 1) Will I be a good mom? 2) Will my kid eat vegetables? 3) Will my kid know every word to Carry On My Wayward Son? 4) How will I keep my kid safe in this dark and dysfunctional world we currently reside in? As the days go by, and I start to settle more into this upcoming role of “mom” I realize there are just four things I want to make sure my kid lives by: 1) Do your best. 2) Be a good Neighbor. 3) Nobody gets left behind. 4) In a world where you can choose to be anything, choose to be kind. I think if I can remind my kid every day that these are the important things in life, we will be well on our way to a generation that makes this world a better, safer place to exist. If you’re reading this and feel alone today, reach out to me. You are loved and cherished, and this world needs YOU. | 143 #projectblessed#bissisterhood#beautyinthecommon#lifetothefullest#makeitreal#makeitfull#makeitlovely#wontyoubemyneighbor#wearesandyhook#wechooselove#chooselove
Wishing the Happiest Birthday to my gorgeous sister, @emilyjoyelseman! Best mom, super wife, savvy shopper, healthy guru, loyal friend. In the last couple years, I’ve seen her exemplify her name “JOY” like never before. Because Jesus. Jesus gives it. Jesus heals it. Jesus sustains it. I’m so proud of the example of joy she’s living out to those around her every day. I’m grateful to call you sister, but more honored to call you friend, Em! Love and adore you! Here’s to the best year ever! 🍰🥂🎉🎁 #happybirthdayemilyjoy#wontyoubemyneighbor#comeonjesus
