It will be #LukaTime in Dallas as the Mavericks selected Luka Doncic with the 3rd pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. In return, the Hawks acquired the draft rights to Trae Young, who was selected by the Mavs at No. 5 overall and a future 1st rounder. The move has minor cap ramifications for Dallas. The cap hit for Doncic will be $6.6 million and not $5.4 million had the Mavericks stayed at 5. Dallas still is positioned to be aggressive in free agency, with coach Rick Carlisle acknowledging that center will be the franchise's priority in this summer's market, when DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Jordan will be among the unrestricted free agents.
The 19-year-old MVP and reigning champion in the world's second-best basketball league possesses the tools necessary for unquestioned superstardom, boasting a James Harden-esque step-back jumper with three-point range, miraculous passing vision and the size (6'8") necessary to create a nightly mismatch out of the backcourt. Plus the young Slovakian won his 3rd LIGA ACB Title with Real Madrid last week.
This past season for Real Madrid, the 6-foot-8 Doncic averaged 14.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists. He hit a bit of a wall after playing 18 straight months without a break for Real Madrid and the Slovenian national team, souring some scouts with a handful of underwhelming performances in March and April. He most likely will not play an entire summer league season since he just played a full season for Real Madrid. Doncic needs to work on his defense and improving his jumpshot. he may still be the most talented player in this class. Already proven against older, more experienced contributors, he's shown himself a clutch offensive artist who can handle pressure without sacrificing his generational passing talent or ruthless scoring instincts. And best of all, he's exactly the type of rookie who will instantaneously make his teammates better by setting them up with feeds in the shooting pocket, which only helps expedite the Dallas rebuild and maximize the abilities of other up-and-comers surrounding him.
The Mavs want to go become a playoff contender in the off-season....
A cold breeze welcomed Donovan as he stepped outside the bar, stopping at the entrance to keep out the pouring rain. Music from the inside became more quiet and muffled as the door closed behind him. The young Amazon suppressed a shiver as he took out a cigarette; turns out it was the last one. After lighting it his gaze turned to the passing cars, splashing up a bit of water but not enough to reach him. The scent of rain mixing with cigarette smoke as he puffed away. Currently he was in the slums of Gotham, as some people would call it...while others just referred the whole city being the slums. A hot spot for criminal activity and only fools would walk around alone unarmed. He didn't come to this area often because of the reputation obviously and bad environment. Horrible smells of things Donovan couldn't even think of and trash litterally all over the place, homeless citizens scattered around and multiplying like roaches. Starting now he would take the time to help them and pick off criminals at a time in this area. No more avoiding this place these people didn't deserve to be ignored. Blinking back to reality he shook his head clearing his thoughts like stubborn cobwebs. Right before he decided to get moving something caught his attention. He narrowed his eyes to peer across the street to the opening of a dark alley. His gaze fixed on a figure in the shadows, the headlights of a passing car granting him the chance to catch a glimpse of a stranger wearing a white mask with haunting black eyes. Donovan waited for the next car to pass to see the person again but when the light came once more they were gone. #wonderboy#sonofwonderwoman#dcroleplayaccount#courtofowls#talondc
