One year ago today, I sat in a doctors office with my mom waiting for some biopsy results, not knowing that life as I knew it was about to change forever. The doctor came in & after a few cordial words said, "You have cancer"!
I felt like I got hit by brick & was forced to join a club no one wants to be a part of.
The first couple of weeks were filled with many emotions from anger to sadness, to grief, to questioning God why He would allow this to happen, etc. But there wasn't much time to sit & wallow in it. Oncologist appointments had to be set up, tests, scans, surgeries, etc.
Within this one year there were major surgeries, Stage 3 cancer, physical, mental & emotional agony, despair, hopelessness, pain, loss of friends, questioning of faith, moments of weakness, being declared cancer free & finding out the cancer reoccured.
But within this past year there was also new found strength, deepened faith, new relationships, purpose, joy, happiness, God's faithfulness & promise, lessons, growth, laughs, accomplishments, etc.
I'm not the same person I was a year ago. I've changed, but for the better. It made me appreciate life & people more, place value in things I used to often overlook, & made me see God move/care for me in a whole new way & gave me a greater determination to lead a peaceful & productive life by being all I'm meant to be. God even added to my purpose by becoming a Vulvar Cancer Advocate & giving me the power/strength to turn something so evil such as cancer into something meaningful. I've found new friends that have left a permanent mark on my life within a community no one would ever willingly join. But as crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't change any of it.
One year later, I'm still on this cancer journey on my way to divine healing as I'm preparing for another MAJOR surgery in less than 2 weeks.
I'm still FAITHING IT!!! Life may have changed, but God hasn't!
Pleas keep me in your prayers as I continue to go through the process and journey to healing/victory.
Proud trainer moment! One of my clients finished a Spartan Trifecta race and did all the male obstacles! This proves that you can really do anything you set your mind to! The journey is hard, but if you stick to your training and good eating habits it’s 100% possible!
🍋 Ayurveda teaches us to cherish our innate-nature - "to love and honor who we are", not as what people think or tell us, “who we should be.
🍯 Science of yoga and ayurveda is subtler than the science of medicine, because science of medicine is often victim of statistical manipulation.
Some of my favorite quotes that explain the importance of the harmony certain foods & herbs can create. 🌿
This tea, which has ginger, lemon, turmeric and honey is a great tonic to boost your immune system, & can help women ease premenstrual pain during our moon cycles (add fennel to this drink for even more pain relief). Thankful for @herbalacademy for constant inspiration & knowledge. Looking forward to completing my course and continuing taking care of myself. The more you know 💡

1. Before sex, we recommend you and your partner wash with our plant-based feminine wash. This helps to reduce bacteria that can be passed back and forth during sexual activity.
2. After sex, clean up with a quick swipe of our plant-based feminine wipes
3. Remember to urinate before and after sex to reduce the possibilities of UTIs.

My life is happier when pizza is involved.
Most of the time I make a healthier version at home, but sometimes I grab a big ol' slice from my favorite pizza joint - @providencepizza. Both are valid options and can be a part of a healthy lifestyle.
Why women should train differently to men.
1. Urinary incontinence affects 37% of Aussie women & is one of the five strongest predictors of postpartum depression. Maybe we should offer different breathing techniques to women who lift heavy or play sports.
2. Our bodies are shaped differently- not just in the outside ladies but on the inside! Our pelvises are wider and this affects our knees & hips (Q angle - the angle of knee to ASIS). This makes us more quad dominant instead of posterior chain activation & were more prone to knee injuries.
3. the chances of pelvic floor issues such as prolapse are increased especially during pregnancy/postpartum/menopause/menstruation) as the gential hiatus is larger than men’s.
4. Pelvic health may be forsaken but is intrinsically associated with all aspects of daily life and happiness!
5. Women are usually more mobile than men again especially in the pregnancy/postpartum/menstruation chapters which is when hormones Increase mobility. Being super Mobile is not actually a good thing! Hyper mobility is not having super stretchy muscles. It refers to loose joints - which when over stretched or under heavy load can dislocate, snap or in the case of a prolapse, stretch to a point where they can no longer support the organs above.
6. Women obviously are smaller in waist and shoulders and this limits muscle mass and “gains” in the upper body. Upper body programming should take this into consideration!
7. Our hormones fluctuate throughout the month! We need to cycle our training. Unlike guys who are the same same always and forever. We will be at our strongest the weeks after our period.
8. We have boobs. Sometimes they get in the way. Or maybe they’re full of milk and sore!
9. If we’ve had babies we probably aren’t very good at using our core muscles so it’s the trainers job to help our core get back on track before making us do 39 burpees.
9. The good thing is that our hormones actually help us to recover better. So it’s good to know that men don’t have all the advantages in the gym and now we know why they complain of soreness more than us!

“When you have a memorable story about who you are and what your mission is, your success no longer depends on how experienced you are or how many degrees you have or who you know. A good story transcends boundaries, breaks barriers, and opens doors. It is a key not only to starting a business but also to clarifying your own personal identity and choices”.

Great book highly recommend 🤙🏼
Happy Tuesday everyone✨💗 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sharing a little food for thought with you all todayy💭
I came across a quote today that said,⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“If you wouldn’t trade places with them, stop taking their advice” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was a concept that took me a longggg time to figure out: I was constantly worried about what others thought about what I was doing and putting too much weight into their opinions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I kept forgetting there is never only one way of living, achieving your goals and becoming successful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It felt like I was listening to a hundred different voices except my own. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Learn what you can from others, but always remember to never base your decisions off of those who don’t bare the consequences 🙌🏼
Let’s talk pelvic pain during pregnancy & postpartum. You’ve probably heard a variety of names for it: pelvic girdle pain, pubic symphysis dysfunction, sacroiliac joint dysfunction (or simply SI joint pain).
What are they? Why are you getting it? And what can be done?
Check this mini video series to find out, and tag a pregnant mama friend who could benefit from this info!
- Not everything needs to be blamed on relaxin (hormone during pregnancy that cusses joints to be more mobile) which is good news! Why? Because if there’s more to it than that, that means there are things within your control to help control, limit, or hopefully eliminate the pain.
- Chiro, massage, physio, PFPT, and your doctor are always your best bet for answers specific to you and the treatment best suited to you.
Tomorrow I’ll be posting more mini videos with some super simple stretches & strengthening moves you can do from home.
WOOHOO!! Another incredible transformation via the FASTer Way to Fat Loss®!!! Congrats lady!! “I’ve been an athlete and active my entire life and had never struggled with weight until grad school. But since starting grad school in 2016, I let the late night hours of studying and mindless eating get the best of me. In 18 months, I put on almost 30 pounds. I felt unmotivated and overwhelming fatigue every single day. Fast forward 7 months into my journey with the FASTer Way to Fat Loss - I’m feeling stronger, have more energy than ever, I’m sleeping like a baby, and I’m actually eating MORE than I was 7 months ago! I’ve been able to keep up with this program even throughout my crazy grad school hours and late nights of studying. I finally feel like I’m in control of what I eat, rather than trying to starve myself to lose a few pounds. This program is truly life-changing and not just another quick fix! If you’re looking for a sign to make a change in your life, this is it!” -Kelsey
