Film Review "The Redhead" ("Lago Film Awards"): The plot is an elliptical day-to-day of a “call center” type of business, one that acts as a hotline service for women who feel stalked or in danger while walking alone at night. Simultaneously, one employee spends his downtime in a virtual reality simulation.
The film spirals toward its feverish nightclub conclusion, in which the protagonist’s infatuation with the girl from the simulation bleeds into reality, where the man who is supposed to be acting as a barrier for predators in fact becomes the predator himself. Intercut with scenes of him at work in finding the client’s location, this conclusion serves as a final testament to the film’s power. It confronts the issue of sexual harassment/predation in a distanced, almost clinical, way. Decent acting, cinematography, and an engaging electronic score aside, it is ultimately the directing that makes "The Redhead" successful in what it sets out to do.
MacMahon’s film is an effective study of obsessive attraction due to its technical artistry, presenting its story in a way that avoids conventionality from the start.
“Doing things the way you see it, going by your own heart and soul, that is pure artistic integrity. Whatever the hair is six or sixty inches long, The eyes have make-up or not, The amps are Marshall or not, all those things don’t matter if you are doing it for the right reason, which to me means doing it for yourself.” 👁 🌳 🌞 @larsulrich @peachandgreenchicago

A lil bit about our project:
HEADED For HALIFAX
2 Female Filmmakers cycle over 1,300kms filming unique Eastern Canadians and local natural beauty.
We need your help to reach unique heroes and give their stories a voice to inspire more change. Our ethos is based in human and animal rights advancement and environmental conservation translated into impactful change. We will not only be hyper-consientious of our expenses during production, but also of our ecological footprint as well to promote sustainable tourism and filming practices by example.
As migrants to Canada, and grounded in our expansive media production experience, this documentary will highlight untold stories of men and women who have innovated for the betterment of Canadian society. Our Focus
To tell through stylized imagery, sounds, and creative interviewing techniques, the real stories of ingenuity, resilience, and action.
To show Eastern Canadian culture's complexities and uniqueness through local interactions to present a point of view never before seen on mainstream media.
To explore on behalf of those who cannot, and to inspire those who are too afraid to explore for themselves.
Through the overcoming of genuine logistical and production challenges, we will provide examples of real women, largely against the media's norm, of women who are comrades rather than competitors, and ingenious in the face of adversity and the mundane.
