I bought this book as I loved the idea of it - introducing great #literary works to kids - Jane Austen, Lewis Carroll, #Shakespeare and many more... my son (3) has a bit of a funny relationship with this book. He loves me reading it to him, then part way through loses interest. Then once every few days, asks me to read it to him again! I have to say however, I gained a whole new appreciation for the book when a few days ago, my son corrected someone's pronounciation of 'Don Quixote' 📚
Ermmm Halifax I think you will find it was the lion, tinman and scarecrow helping out. Dorothy was not a homeowner, not sure about your insurance policies..does it cover tornados? Do we get to go to Oz and meet the wizard? Also can Dorothy bring her dog toto? #wizardofoz#halifax#yellowbrickroad#dorothy
I woke up feeling calm. Clear-headed. I listened to Kacey Musgraves all the way to work, specifically “Slow Burn” on repeat.
“Takin’ my time, let the world turn.”
I spent the day at school with my 170 students and taught them how to identify and analyze theme within a text. At one point, we discussed my favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz. I asked the class, “What did you identify as the theme of this story?” Most students said the obvious, “There’s no place like home.” But one student said “The theme is that everything you need is already there.” •
I went to dinner at my favorite place. I had cake and champagne in my living room with my people, which was my only request for the day. We listened to Ella Fitzgerald, her soothing voice coating the room.
Just now, before bed, I burned sage from my garden. I prayed for happiness, success, love, laughter, and fruitfulness to fill my home in this next season of life. I prayed for patience, something I so lacked in my 20s and desperately need in my 30s. I gave thanks for what I have and what’s to come. •
“Old soul, waiting my turn. I know a few things but I’ve still got a lot to learn.”
I’ve been waiting for 30 for a long time, because I’ve felt ready for a new stage of life. My 20s were wonderful, but I’m excited for what my 30s will bring. In Omnia Paratus, as Rory Gilmore would say. I’m ready for anything.
