🇬🇧👑🇬🇧 Before she was even Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle found a need and filled it!
14 June 2017 the 24 storey Grenfell Tower block of flats erupted in flames. 74 people died And 223 people escaped… with nothing. It was the deadliest structural fire in the UK since 1988 and the worst UK residential fire since the Second World War. A total of 151 homes were destroyed. Countless lives were affected. People immediately began to rally to assist victims of the fire with donations of food, water, toys, and clothes.
Members of the royal family visited the grieving families, and have since extended hands to help rebuild. Amongst those, Meghan Markle also slipped in quietly and unobserved, without fanfare. She found a need, knew her niche, and helped in a way that was unique to her. From those efforts she drew out the gifts and talents of these displaced women and helped them find a solution to the unfortunate circumstances they found themselves in. Their combined efforts has brought us ‘Together: Our Community Cookbook’.
"The Hubb Community Kitchen is a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry and cook together. Melding cultural identities under a shared roof, it creates a space to feel a sense of normalcy – in its simplest form, the universal need to connect, nurture, and commune through food, through crisis or joy – something we can all relate to."
