So of course you know I got to fuck with you hardcore tonight on this cheap pinot night and pull an Oregon out of the bag. This one--ironically--doesn't suffer from any of the ills the other two did even being a couple years older. Same color, same texture in the glass but as soon as you put your nose into it, you're dealing with a different beast. There is none of that nutty bullshit burnt rubber crap, this is vibrant and on point, killing it with briar and acid and bright fruit and in the mouth oh my God it is Pinot heaven. And yes... same deal... I bought this on deep discount many years ago. I ran into this label at World of Pinot the last couple of years and they are cranking out some unbelievable wines. Fruit's a little shy on this one, cinnamon and nutmeg and a little mineral briar in the nose and then everything hedges itself into serious acid. A dirty peat still represents in the nose but sweet clean strawberry and peach fruit transfer across the palate into nonexistent tannins.

The girls and I were just looking through these and S asked how I came to be a birth ‘tographer. Im not really sure “how” but I remember shooting that first birth. The tears were streaming down my face and I could hardly focus in the viewfinder through them. It was right there that I knew I would never quit. It’s truly a miracle and such an honor to be there in the room when a baby is born.
Lots of people look at me strangely when they hear I shoot the “actual birth”, but it’’s my absolute passion.
These photos from my dear friend @jill.vanwell are from C’s birth and some of my most valued treasures. If you swipe all the way to the right, that pic is the first time I laid my eyes on her!
The memories, the moments captured... I couldn’t take all these things in at the time because it was sheer chaos and it was a surgical delivery (how I fought to have her in there is a different story! 😝)
There’s nothing more soul filling to me than getting to capture the a woman doing the most incredible work of bringing another life earthside. Regardless of the birth method, birth is the most special and magical thing I have ever witnessed and each and every one is different.
So... a little randomness from me. Even though I’m not a full time photographer anymore, I still shoot births and legacy sessions. They’re the best!
