The annual Lafayette Trunk or Treat is this coming Saturday (10/27) from 4-6 and is open to all in the community! We are partnering with Circle of Concern on a food drive so your "fee" to come is canned food! For Lafayette folks, we encourage you to jump in to help by making or serving chili, running games, or setting up a trunk! See Dave Wilhelm for further details.
#mantramonday : I. Am. Grateful. 🙌🏻🙋🏻♀️
Kicking off a new week with a new #mantra . This weekend was filled with love and celebration as we hosted some friends and family at our new house for my birthday. These moments are bittersweet - I can’t call my parents to invite them over, ask mom what she thinks about some decor options or become excited about something new the kids are doing in the house with mom. I continue to grieve and wish they were here for these moments. Then the best gets me.. I wish I had the nicer car, the nicer shoes, the brand new furniture (thank goodness for hand-me-downs and upcycling otherwise our place would be empty) 😉. But, my parents aren’t here and the other things are things and gosh Carney, I am grateful, humbled and happy with what I’ve got. Who needs the stuff when there are incredible people around you. Who cares about the gig that didn’t work out, another one is around the corner. The universe will give you what you can handle. And be grateful for it.
I am so grateful. #rxjoy |wildwood, poppies

THE HOODED MAN ⠀⠀
In times of winter, especially this time, I feel the energy of the hooded man especially sharply. At the moment all I want to do is to be in my own company, meditate and contemplate life. I feel that the colder greyer days just call for that. ⠀⠀
The hooded man is positioned at the midwinter equinox, 21st December. This is when finally the days are going to start getting longer. This is the time of the dead and rebirth. Solitude and contemplation. This is fine so you can come out into the new year with wisdom and knowledge you might not have possessed before.
The hooded man can be seen as an external guide. He is the teacher who hs seen everything and anything and he is wise and ready to actually share that wisdom. He offers the light of his lamp and the staff to lean on.
The hooded man can also represent the guide within each of us. When we are alone, we really aren’t alone. We are in the company of ourselves. I am reading an amazing book by Stephanie Dowrick called “intimacy and solitude” and I would recommend it to anyone. The issue of being with one self and being comfortable and learning about oneself is a centrepiece to being able to be comfortable with others. (More in comments)
