Wig work ! :D
As mentioned I actually worked on 3 wigs this weekend and didn't wanna squeeze them into one post soooo xD
I started with Leo de la Iglesia for @twinkle_twinkle_x 😏😏😏
We were smart enough to order a base Wig with a natural parting but is was tilted to the side 😂
So I basically removed it, glued on wefts from one side to the other and sewed it back onto the middle ^^
As for his iconic 'M' 😏
Some heat and patience did the trick and short wefts glued to the underside make the transition a bit cleaner ^^
I didn't use any hairspray yet since I still gotta check the length on my Leos face 😂
As you can see, it wasn't that hart ^^
So to any Leo cosplayer out there, just try it out 😄
Full two-weeks to go progress post to come but I'm so excited about this wig that I'm sharing it first.
This was my first time doing ANY wig styling and honestly I hid the wig in my craft room for two months, dreading to do anything with it.
But @allieplanner and @chikipuffscp helped me so much by providing insight and giving me confidence.
Wig will be finally styled in the hotel, just because some of it may not survive travel the first timed. But I'm so happy to far.
Wig is a Venus in Warm Light Brown with matching wefts from @ardawigs.
Slowly making progress on Okita's wig. Still need to fix the part then trim and style. So far he's the least stressful wig I've worked on.
I'm nixing the haori for San Japan too, sadly. Just isn't time to dye it like I want. ;o; But there will still be enough of him done to wear at least! .
A before and somewhere in the middle of being finished lmao.
Started working on this bad boy 👀 I still need to fix up the spike some more (since you can see the lace a bit) and there's a bit too much green so I'm gonna color some more black, but I'm excited!!
My Loki wig is so thick it’s been a pain to wear, but I didn’t feel like ripping out tons of wefts to thin it . Solution:
My Legolas wig got me thinking about using French braids to keep hair out of your face, and I figured the same could apply here. I divided the wig into 4 layers - bottom, 2 middle and top. The two middle layers are what get braided out of the way, and they’re hidden by the top layer. I used both waterfall and French braids to not only make the wig less dense, but to help hold the slicked back style. It went from using 10 bobby pins to only 3 (guess I should give those back to @washu89 😅), and the braids give them something better to anchor in than slick wig hair. It should fit under the helmet much better now!
I’m done with Bruno’s wig! As you can see, the braid is just being pinned in place at the moment. I’m not entirely sure how I’m gonna attach it but I’m leaving it off for Otakon bc of...reasons...and I’ll figure smth out for lacc. How did I make it, you might be wondering? Well I’m not entirely sure myself, I just kind sewed wefts to a lace cap, cut out the shape, and braided it. I don’t work with wigs that often so I don’t really know how to explain myself. Anyways, with this I have everything done for Otakon! Just have to pack and do a few more tests! #cosplaywip#wigwip#ventoaureo#brunobuccellati#ventoaureocosplay
Here's my progress on Shiroe!
2nd slide is what I started with, and the wig in 5 different light sources (plus the wefts I got to lighten the color in 3). 3rd, 4th, 5th slides are me designating one of the cheap wigs I got as wefts and then stripping it apart. Doing so really helped me understand how wigs are put together! I didn't even know they had a skin part (shown in 5th slide)! 6th is me making the wig smaller. Too big and loose.
7th is me re-parting the wig. 8th is me cutting out the wefts there. Front cover is after I pinned the skin part in! As of now it's sewn in but I don't have a good pic :( Last pic is the character! Imma have a lot of fun styling :D
Did you know that I work with dolls, styling their hair all day? I love learning new techniques for working with wigs and how to style them. This is my current favorite hair style for Luciana. Including her purple streak is fun!
It's been a good while since I posted about my Princess Kakyuu wig and all the steps I took to make it, so I decided to make another post! I hope this makes sense!
So I started out with an @ardawigs Leia in titanium blonde and dyed it using iDye Poly in red. I boiled water in a pot on the stove and added in the color and once it was dissolved I added the wig and let it soak for 2 min and 15 seconds, stiring to make sure it was fully covered. It ended up coming out very very close to Arda's apple red.
After that I dryed it and straightened it and then put it up in the desired pony tails. Since this wig is designed to have low pony tails when I put it up higher it revealed the wefts near the bangs so I bought a pack of long apple red wefts and sewed them in. I ended up having to sew in about four or five rows to fully cover the gaps. After that I redid the pony tails and started making the loops.
To make the loops I took thick jewelry wire and doubled it, then wrapped red felt around the wire so the hair had something to stick to. I made a hook in the wire on one side and there was a loop on the other and I stuck the wire through the pony behind the hair tie close to the wig base and then wrapped the pony tail around the wire. Once I had it wrapped, I bent the wire around to create a loop and hooked the wire to itself and then wrapped the excess around the base so it was secure, and hot glued the ends down. Then I took tacky glue and Got2b glued hairspray and secured all the loose ends down.
After that all I had to do was cut and style the bangs.
Now if you got this far I will say make sure that you test the wig on your own head after making the pony tails! Mine was a tad bit too small so a week before the con I had a bit of a panic attack because it didn't fit fully and I had to do some witchcraft and praying to the cosplay God's to make it work. Luckily I got it to fit and it was HEAVY! I had to put around 30 pins in just to make it stay. #arda#ardawigs#ardastyle#idyepolyred#idyepoly#wig#wigs#wigdye#wigstyle#cosplay#wigcosplay#cosplaywip#wigwip#princesskakyuucosplay#princesskakyuu#sailormoon#sailorstars#sailormooncosplay#wigtutorial
My next cosplay will be Momohime from Muramasa: the Demon Blade. When I cosplayed Torahime back in 2014, I really wanted to make Momohime but decided to go with Torahime. Momohime has been hunting me ever since and I finally decided to cosplay her!
I started with the wig I originally ordered for Lenalee and curled. Thank you for the tips, @megurinemagnet !
Ps I want to thank you guys for all the positive feedback on vash! This is a dream cosplay for me so it makes it that much more exciting for me ! Thanks again! I hope we can continue to look forward to his progress together ( I'll probably end up sobbing when it's all done 🤣
I'm going to aim for colossal east or anime NYC ! I hope I hope ~! 💖&✌️ My friends!
Sailor Kakyuu Wig
I used a Jeannie CLASSIC in size small in the color Crimson. I used wire, stuffing and fabric to make a double loop shape, then covered it with wig fibers from the Clip and leftover Apple Red fibers from another project for more dimension. The loops are sewn to the ponytail of the wig and the Ponytail fibers are wrapped around the center of the loop to hold it in place! I added extra wefts to the front sides of the wig to get her long trendails. The bangs are cut and heat/glued into the style.
