As my time in Pennsylvania is coming to an end I begin to reflect on how this week has been. This week has been rewarding on so many levels and I so happy that I was able to come to Pennsylvania for my birthday and thanksgiving. It was wonderful seeing my family again. Although the cold wasn’t the greatest it makes me more thankful for the heat of Florida. That being said I have an announcement to make. Beginning December 6th I will be moving into a residential facility in Indiana for a year to a year and a half give or take. I will be taking a year long hiatus to work on myself. I will not have a phone and will not be active on social media. Those of you who would like to reach me can ask the necessary people. But I will not be sending anything over social media as I don’t want everyone to have my address simply because not everyone needs it. I’ve appreciated all of the support from my family in this decision as it was very hard for me to make. I think this is the route God desires for me and I am excited to see what this path brings to me. I would be thankful for your prayers and wishes as I go into this new chapter of my life. Thank you for taking the time to read this. —————————————————
Soooo, this came in the mail today! I am having so much fun with it, and I can’t stop touching it. Loving this new look...... what do y’all think? Just as a costume, or can I get away with this in public? 🤣😍 #WigHairDontCare
Self love is the best love.
Where to even begin. Self love. Yeah- it’s a journey, one that I’ve been working on recently. I’ve been working on my attitude towards myself. To make it much more positive than it normally is. I’ve been working on my self talk to change that from always being negative to slowly becoming more positive. Self love is a process and it’s hard. Nothing worthwhile is easy. But being able to look at myself in the mirror and say “I’m okay” as opposed to “I’m ugly” is a step and I’m proud of myself. I’ve begun the journey of self love and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
Month of Giving Thanks, Day 10:
I’m just thankful for my wonderful life and the people in it today ❤️breakfast at Train Depot with Devan 🚂🥞before group pictures at the Polynesian Club 🌺 📸 and a quick pic with my girl @sdemerich 😘 then hanging out at home watching Doctor Who and Steven Universe 💗 in a hat 🙈 which I never do, but my hair was cray after pictures (read: wig hair) so it was the easiest option! I hope you all did so fun things for your Self today (it IS Self-Care Saturday, after all) xoxo- Cid
I've tried them all: custom extensions, synthetic wigs, remy wigs, and more toppers than I can name. And I've concluded that they're all great options for those of us with thinning hair, each with their own pros and cons:
1. EXTENSIONS: The pros are that it's an easy fix & inexpensive. But the Cons are that it can cause "traction" damage over time (thinning spots where it clips in), it's also not a great option if you have bald spots as you actually need hair to blend/cover it. I'd recommend tape-in and not clips. Overall I'd say extensions are great for added fullness but you still need a decent head of hair to make them work.
2. TOPPERS: Easy to apply, covers almost all forms of thinning, and blends well even with thin hair. The Cons are obviously the price as toppers can run from $100 - $5000+ depending on the type of hair/quality chosen. Better quality means way more money. Toppers can also cause a bit of traction thinning as well (similar to extensions) so be careful and change up the way you apply it every so often.
3. WIGS: Probably the most intimidating of them all, Wigs are great as they cover everything and blend perfectly. The main Con is that Wigs are even more costly. If you still have a good head of hair, over wearing wigs can actually increase thinning as the scalp isn't given a chance to breath, and the build up of sweat/oils accelerates thinning. So they're a good option for those with severe thinning where the scalp shows a lot.
MY FAVE: believe it or not, my favourite hair system is the Wig. I personally find that it always blends really well, much better than any equivalently priced topper. If worn occasionally, then theres very little potential damage. However, getting the courage to wear a wig is difficult. I can barely wear a topper outside of my house much as a wig! 🤦♀️ Working your way up through other hair pieces is often a lot easier. So, what's your favourite?
