Having time to prepare simple skillet lunches like this is one of my favorite parts of my nutritional therapy practice! 👩🏻🍳 I’ve always loved to cook and creating recipes has long been one of my greatest passions ☺️ Right now, most of my days are spent on the computer either writing new recipes, working on my website or catching up on emails. Whether you‘re looking to increase energy, lose weight, or simply feel BETTER mentally and physically, I am here for you ❤️ from helping you identify personal triggers to making grocery lists and providing recipes, I can help keep you encouraged, accountable and energized for all that next year has in store! If you have any questions about the process or want to schedule a complimentary 30-minute phone call, shoot me a message or email! .
#whatsinmybowl ➡️ 1 cup frozen cauliflower rice (I love the bulk bags from Costco!) sautéed in toasted sesame oil with a little onion, garlic, red pepper and coconut aminos (an awesome soy sauce alternative and super source of minerals!) i then made a little basket in the center of the cast iron skillet for an egg. Top with everything but the bagel seasoning (@traderjoes) and scramble it in with the rest of the veggies! Add in a little salt to taste if you wish and wa-la! This would also make a great dinner with pastured chicken or grass-fed beef!
I realize most if you probably don’t crave smoothies when it’s too cold to even walk outside, but apparently I do and it tasted delicious so here it goes ☺️
Pineapple blueberry smoothie: 1/2 cup each frozen pineapple, blueberry and 1 banana w/ a splash of OJ eaten from a bowl bc it’s so thick and creamy and then you can top it with paleo granola and/or coconut and more frozen fruit because it tastes delicious! 🍓
Also- you should definitely consider adding a scoop of your favorite collagen peptides...I’ve been using @vitalproteins for a while and enjoy the unflavored version for skin, hair, nail and joint support!
💃🏻 Collagen peptides contain essential amino acids that act as building blocks that boost the integrity of the gut lining, which is essential 💫 for healthy digestion and a healthy immune system! Also, it adds protein to a fruit smoothie that will slow down digestion and help keep you fuller, longer 👋
*food for thought* ... what is the first the you put in your body every day? My ideal first sip of anything in the morning is usually warm lemon water or acv lemon water. but this week I’ve been mixing it up for the with an easy blender celery juice made with apple, lemon + ginger. Just the smell of it excites me! It’s intoxicating and anti-inflammatory and the lemon juice makes it really quite zippy! Just make sure you strain the liquid from the blender with a pair of fine mesh strainers, cheesecloth or a nut milk bag!
directions: combine 1 bunch celery stalks, 1 apple cored, 1/2 lemon, juiced, 1/2 inch cube of ginger (optional) and 1 cup filtered water in vitamix. blend on high for 30 secs until smooth. then strain well!
Today’s tip of the #Whole3030Days30tips series is one that I think a lot of us learn after our second or third round. I’m sharing it with you now because I think it’s important to be aware of this, even if this is your first whole30.⠀
Larabars, RX bars, R bars, the lemon Epic bar,..all of these bars are fantastic and yes while they may be whole 30 they can be problematic. They can cause you to create habits that you don’t need, they may stand in as substitutions for habits you’re trying to break. For example let’s say you have a mean sweet tooth and you find yourself reaching for a Larabar or RX bar every night after dinner. Yes it’s compliant so you’re good right?!?⠀
That’s wrong because you’re not redefining your relationship with food, instead you’re just creating a substitute. While in some cases substitutions are ok, but in this scenario if you’re finding yourself treating these bars as dessert, it might be time to reevaluate. ⠀
So please be aware of using these on a round. There is nothing wrong with reaching for one of these every so often. But if you find yourself having one every single day you might need to stop, take a step back and and reevaluate. ⠀
I am always upfront honest about the fact that up until my fifth round of whole30 I would eat a Larabar every single day. It took me that long because I told myself oh no I don’t treat them as dessert. But if you’re eating one every single day and you look forward to it maybe you are treating it as dessert. Of course this is me and my experience but I’m sharing it with you guys because I know I want not the only one thats been in that boat.
Between the recent Thanksgiving and birthday celebrations I feel like I need a serious nutrition reset before my Christmas indulging commences! I have committed to getting in #alltheveggies until Christmas Eve. No rules. No plans. Just literally filling my meals with vegetables. ❤️ This nutrient dense healing bowl has cauliflower, broccoli, avocado, squash, chicken sausage and is boosted with anti-inflammatory turmeric! You can easily make it Whole30 compliant by omitting the cheese... oh and it is delicious! My husband ate 2 bowls for dinner 😂 ❤️ Who’s in for some December veggie madness with me?!?
Almost out of this ratatouille. And I couldn’t be happier because I’ve had it for lunch for 3 days and while I love it, I’m ready for a change.
I missed checking up on here for day 5, but I just needed a break. I was exhausted and not too much fun.
Day 6: tired and bloated and I just want cheesy pasta (aka Mac ‘n’ Cheese)!!!!!!!
The past few months have been tough. I had a bad cold that has basically snowballed into a whirlwind of binging on comfort foods and holiday indulgences, and I lost all motivation to workout. On top of that, or possibly because of that, I’ve been really struggling with anxiety. I feel restless and moody and overwhelmed, and just so, so uncomfortable. I recognize that my poor food choices and lack of exercise are making me feel worse, but I’ve been cutting myself some slack. This whole anxiety thing is a bitch, and I’m just trying to get a handle on it. But I do think it’s time for some tough love. Today, I started a 10 day whole30 reset leading up to my vacation to Chicago next week. It may be too little too late, but I’m hoping for a little whole30 magic to help me feel like myself again before our trip. Does anyone else suffer from anxiety? I’d love to hear what helps you manage your symptoms. 🌿#anxiety#anxietysucks#anxietyproblems#whole30reset#cleaneatingjourney#justeatrealfood#whole30journey#whole30alumni
Tried (and unsurprisingly failed) to convince my egg-hating husband that we should have an omelette night once a week for dinner. They’re the best for clearing out the fridge and the possibilities are endless. Also home fries on the side, what’s not to love? Until I succeed, solo breakfasts it is.
That Tupperware life 🤷🏽♀️.
Day 3: I’m dead 😵. My head is killing me, I have absolutely no energy, and every little thing is annoying me. I can definitely tell I needed this reset because my body is fighting so hard to adjust. I’m glad I’m doing this! It’s hard, but at least I have my meals prepared (like this leftover ratatouille).
Thank the lord baby Jesus that there is coffee in the world.
Day 2: woke up with a slight headache and extremely tired. I know it’s my body adjusting to my new eating patterns. Going to keep today pretty basic as far as food goes because I just don’t have the energy to do anything else.
Dinner tonight is a variation on ratatouille. I remember making this on my first attempt at The Whole 30. It instantly became my favorite! While I haven’t made it in awhile, I’m glad that I remembered I could do it again. Definitely what I needed after my long day.
Snack in my car because I’m hungry and trying to avoid eating all the food around me.
Fun fact: I work in a bakery so I’m surrounded by temptation. Luckily I’ve worked here for 7 years so it’s a little easier to pass all on the baked goods.
Woke up STARVING! Looking like a 3 egg breakfast is in order 😋.
Today is day 1 of my whole 30 attempt. I’ve tried MANY times to complete it in the past and never could get past day 14. Well, now I’m trying again. I was going to wait till after Christmas, but I’ve been feeling super off and my eczema has been freaking out so I figured why wait? I want to feel good now so let’s do this!
Pictured is grass-fed beef (85/15), Yukon potatoes, and tons of broccoli all sautéed together in ghee and topped with three eggs.
Riced butternut squash, air fried sprouts and salmon simmered in @mesadevida North African Inspired Cooking Sauce with mushrooms, onions and jalapenos is on my mid-week meal prep menu this week. For real though, if the laws in Maryland for running a food business from home weren't so silly, I'd totally start a meal prep side gig. Would you let me meal prep for you? 😉
Easy meal prep is the name of the game between Thanksgiving and Christmas AMIRIGHT?!
• I created this recipe with the intention of making it on a Sunday and taking in to work for breakfast on the days I am there (Mon, Wed & Fri). Little did I know that it would be so good it would be gone by Wednesday 😳
•If you need an easy flexible mean prep dish the link is in my bio!!
• You can easily make this Keto or Whole 30 compliant by omitting the crust (baking in a casserole dish)!
•What is your favorite easy meal prep meal?!? I am always looking for new ideas!
We ate whole30 last night but I had Starbucks TWICE yesterday too. So, today is day 1 of my 2 week reset. I found a recipe for chicken curry salad in the NEW #nomnompaleo calendar. The lime added last minute makes this dish. #whole30lunchtomorrow#whole30reset
Weekend prep is essential to a successful #Whole30 in my opinion. 🙋🏼♀️ Today I made Whole30 mayo, my own version of an @justjessieb Breakfast bake and prepped dinners for the week. —————
How do you prep for your #Whole30 ? 🍴🔪🥗🥦🥑 —————
Thanksgiving is the kick off to the holiday season in my book. It’s a time for gratitude. A time for family. A time for friends. It can also be a time of heart break. The remembrance of the loved ones we’ve lost too soon. The reminder of all the things you have but also the things/people you don’t. I love taking “stock” of the things I’m grateful for, so that I can truly enjoy my holiday.
For this holiday, I’m thankful for the life I’ve been given and the opportunities that have been placed in my path. I’m thankful for the people in my life that consistently support me and lift me up. I’m thankful for my health and my capabilities. I’m thankful that I live in a world where I have choices. I’m thankful of the faith that was instilled upon me at a young age. What are you thankful for this holiday season??🍁✨💜
This "Food Freedom Farewell" from yesterday with Fam Visit No. 3 features a honey pomegranate avocado dip, some mango rose, TG reprise sammies, apple pie on the rocks, one of the rounds of dessert sampling...and somehow room for dinner once we got home 😂 today's inciting reset (beginning with a breakfast salad) marks a review of how we've best thrived all year long. See you on Christmas holiday, added sugar!
