Guys this was the night that mom drove an hour and a half north after work to pick me up from the New Hope Pet Rescue Transport that drove all day and night from Georgia to Michigan! There were over 20 dogs who were saved from a high kill shelter and got a spot on the transport van that night, but I was the first one out because I got to ride in the front passenger seat the whole trip. Probably because I was so cute. Also because I was only 7 weeks old and had just had my stitches taken out of my eyeball! Mom says that special treatment I received is part of the reason I’m such a huge baby today 😅
Please share! The approaching Holidays often means company visiting which makes this #clienttipstuesdays post an oldie but relevant goodie ⚠️Kids and dogs should ALWAYS be supervised when together whether playing or not. There is ZERO to gain by giving either party too much credit⚠️. Read those two lines again and commit them to memory, then make a commitment to put them into practice. We pride ourselves in not taking anything too seriously but this is something that all too often is not taken seriously enough. ❌If you think your dog is the exception to this rule, look up "predatory drift"❌We chose to play fetch/catch with our nephew Gilby. It creates distance and is very easy to monitor. It's important that he is in charge of the game and is in control of all things good (the ball). Bella's behavior will dictate whether she can play or not. Basically do what Gilby says then we play👍🏻Bella is a high octane, high drive dog. It doesn't take much for an overly excited dog to tip in the wrong direction no matter how friendly they are regardless of breed. Dogs can also change a bit as they come into maturity! ALL dogs can bite! Some just bite better unfortunately😔Grab Professional help if you aren't comfy or are the slightest bit unsure about what your dog is "saying"!
-He has her drop it before any interaction ensues. (If she tried to grab it before he did, I as the adult would end the game for a few)
-He gives clear directions to go to bed (hand signal means "back up" so it's not completely clear but she gets it) This is to avoid the race between her teeth and his hands to the ball and creates space/distance!
-He tells her to stay
-He says GOOD GIRL
-THEN he throws it. Win Win👏🏻
✅Notice the second time how he says "bed" with more authority and she listens. Empower the little 2 leggers and the 4 leggers will respect it.
✅Be mindful of correcting the dog and the association you are creating. Does your dog constantly get yelled at when kids are over? Or is it fun? Make them comfy when kids show up.
✅Kids are unpredictable so keeping them in line first! Explaining and enforcing the rules will set everyone up for success🙏🏻 #silive#grateful 💚
Your reaction when a video you posted over a year ago gets blocked by IG today because the music playing in the background breaches the copyright of Warner Music 😳🤷🏻♂️❓
