Story time part 2: After she ran off my mind and emotions were all over the place. At first I was shaking because I thought for sure I got her, but then I started questioning myself. I immediately felt remorse, remembering how hard she had ducked, the thought of her walking around wounded broke my heart. I waited and called my boyfriend, him and his friend showed up to help me find her. When we were walking through the woods blood trailing her, there was very little blood at first, so to me, this was confirming my theory on wounding her. Then we found more and more blood. After walking down a steep hill, we found my arrow covered in blood and then shortly after we found her! I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. I did hit the lungs, and did make a clean enough shot! I am the type of person who would rather miss or make a clean shot, then wound an animal. Thanks again to everyone who helped and congratulated me!! #Iowa#whitetail#bowhunting#evashockeysignatureseries#bowtech#doe
I have been dreaming of this day since she was born and it turned out to be the most fun and exciting hunt of MY life! I’m so proud of our well rounded girl for getting her 1st deer... an incredible chocolate horn buck! After eating bags of candy and playing games on the phone we crawled 80 yards on our hands and knees to close the distance for the best possible shot! I am still shaking! She did so good and I couldn’t be more proud of our Caylee! #deer#deerseason#whitetail#whitetailhunting#hunting#outdoors#realtree#druryoutdoors
Saturday was one of those days. Pouring in the morning, and showers in the afternoon. The cold front brought unfavorable wind for just about all my stand locations, but I made the best out of it. I checked a camera and my mid-day scouting brought me upon this rub. The mid-day hike gave me a key piece of information about this property that was right in front of my face the whole time. Although I essentially punted the opportunity to kill a deer, the knowledge I gained about the property was more than worth it. I’m excited to put this knowledge to use in the coming weeks. Again, the woods hands out another life lesson...always make the best of any situation, and take away the positives. Apply to life as needed. #liveandlearn#alwayslearning#lifelessons#wilderness#outdoors#hunting#bowhunting#wisdom#paarchery#itsinmynature#buck#buckrub#sonsofthehunt#sothpodcast#whitetail#deer
I enjoy public land hunting in Wyoming, but I mostly hunt private land here at home. This is a property I was given permission for this spring, and I am finally going to give it a whirl on Saturday, this weekend. As you can see from my @onxhunt maps, I did some research several months back and found several old tree stands, still attached to the trees. It amazes me that people leave those behind.
I will be bowhunting out of my climber, and it is my understanding that no one else bow hunts the property. There are two guys that come in for opening day of rifle, in November, and then rarely come back after that. So pressure shouldn’t be too bad. Parke County is known for nice deer, but I’ll be thrilled if I get to see any deer at all. I haven’t had a chance to do any late summer scouting but I’m pretty excited to go to a new place and try to figure it all out. The landowner has asked that I help him get rid of a ton of firewood, so of course I will load up my truck every chance I get. Our fireplace loves free firewood. 🙌🏼🔥🦌
