Went to watch the Rose City Roller’s travel team’s scrim scram tonight! Found out their team is called the Wheels of Justice & I fuckin love that. (Pause to say - big thank you to my friend Kernel who has made it possible for me to attend RCR practices! ❤️) Kernel pointed out Loren Mutch (@mutchmayhem) was there to scrim and since 1) I admire her a ton and 2) she’d told me in an insta comment the other day to go say hi if I saw her, I did that. Then Kernel popped up all paparazzi style and got a photo which is something I maybe should’ve thought of myself lmao, but didn’t, and so again I’m grateful to Kernel. Thanks for being rad Mutch and saying hello to me! I’m excited to come to a handful more practices while I’m here, including the open scrimmage this Sunday! Woop woop 🙃✨.
Here are some of my favorite in-season injury prevention movements! 💪💪💪 Most taught to me by @maxwhelp and @qniversal 🙏🙏🙏

Snatch: I’m still very much a beginner at oly lifts, there is so much technique involved! I’m loving it though.
Deadlifts: My favorite movement. Because I’m mostly skating and only lifting 1-2 (or zero) times a week right now, when I do get the chance to deadlift, I’ve been trying to switch up how I pull. Standard stance vs Sumo, switch grip vs regular grip, etc. This workout I did ascending weight because honestly I don’t know where my max is at right now so this was a good way to avoid hurting myself while still pushing. —-
Bench: The first thing I saw when I watched this was that I’m losing a lot of tightness in my unracking. Not sure what’s up with that but bench is the lift I’ve had the least opportunity to film so maybe that’s always been a weakness. Regardless, this felt great, which is cool because I’ve been away from the barbell and 65lbs used to be a lot for me!
More on the rest of my workout in a few days! I want to share some of my favorite derby injury prevention movements that I did for the end of my workout in its own post.
A Rollerscope for Mia Palau! Mia transferred to Rose City from Barcelona at the beginning of 2017. A year later and we're now double teammates- on WOJ where Mia is a fierce and powerful blocker, as well as our Home Team, The Heartless Heathers where Mia is a strong and dynamic jammer. A couple months ago (I'm super behind on my Rollerscope-Shout-Outs, sorry y'all) I caught up with this Mars in Cancer bb to talk about putting in the work, living the dream, and moving from a teeny-tiny league to the biggest league in the world. 💜🔮💜
Mia's Mars in Cancer lies opposite Neptune in Capricorn. Neptune is the planet of dreams, fantasies, and imagination. When Mars and Neptune are linked, this usually signifies someone who does a lot of dreaming, fantasizing and imagining about sports. Mia is the type of skater who has an impressively comprehensive derby journal packed with notes, diagrams, and ideas about movements, strategies and drills. The key with Mars-Neptune oppositions is to make sure you are acting on your martial fantasies which is exactly what Mia did when she moved to the United States to pursue her derby dreams! 💜🔮💜
To book your own Rollerscope DM me on FB or Instagram. 💜🔮💜
Y'ALL: last night I jumped the apex in a game and made it for the first time ever and I am so freaking excited that @regularman_photography captured it!! But real talk: after a really bad fall on my knee in May, I had been waiting and waiting to figure out what was wrong and I spent most of the summer super worried that I had somehow injured it and feeling afraid to push myself as hard as I wanted to. When the first doctor told me I might have a PCL tear, I was so worried that my season might be cut short, but I am happy to report that on Friday I got the call that my MRI results looked really good and I have no ligament or soft tissue damage! I'll start PT to help even out my muscle imbalances soon, but for now, I can skate, and let me tell you, it felt so, so good to play last night knowing that everything is (mostly) fine. I love this sport, I love this team, and I'm eternally grateful that my body is continuing to let me do what I love. 💜💜💜
So proud of my new lil AOA crew. We’re such a different team than played in LA in April. To combat the “who are we, and how do we play together?” that comes when you have a “new” team that is developing, we voiced that concern when we felt it happening. In those moments at practice or scrimmage when we couldn’t find each other, or didn’t know what to expect from one another we would take time to notice that we were a new unit, still learning each other and that was ok. It meant there was no time for worrying about stepping on someone’s leadership toes, if you saw something, you had to communicate it. We actively worked to scrimmage together outside of WOJ practice, and concentrated on running our plays so everyone could find where they play best in them. I can’t wait to keep learning and growing with this portion of our team! Catch us next weekend in Seattle playing the amazing B teams from @mnrg @azrollerderby and again the super fun @ratcityrollerderby ! So much fun!
Sunday was the 31'st annual @tourdeshorechildrensfoundation bicycle ride from Philadelphia to Atlantic City. Upper Gwynedd Township Police were proud to have once again participated. Thank you to the countless volunteers and organizers who brought it all together. A very special thank you to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office for organizing the #WheelsOfJustice team which was the largest money raiser.
We were especially excited to meet #MaureenFaulkner shortly after the ride. Maureen is the widow of Philadelphia Police Department Officer Daniel Faulkner who was murdered in the line of duty on Dec. 9, 1981.
With kids like Wyatt, it’s really easy to remember why we ride. This young man is one of the most caring and polite people you will ever meet. He rode in his second #courageclassicco this weekend, completing over 65 miles on a bike including Vail Pass both ways! He is strong, sweet, caring and funny which is why @lesismo couldn’t pass up a photo-op with him. He also rode in memory of his brother who passed away in 2017 just weeks before the ride. We will always remember Fynn Cox and the #FynnFighters#kidshelpingkids#partnersagainstcancer#wheelsofjustice#dillybars
