Day 132 - 15.8.18 ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšฒ. Another successful marathon training day for my daughter today โœ…. 22 km around the Brisbane River on this fine day. It really was a perfect day for a run and bike ride. Went to our favourite cafe for lunch after the run and got this really delicious lunch - Farmhouse bowl with chicken (front) and Corned Beef with Saurkraut and Swiss Cheese on Rye Bread (back). Our 3 little ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถwere waiting for us to take them out for a walk when we got home, so walks we did. Finally home and on the couch where I will remain until I go to bed.

Boring Banza pasta in honor of another relatively boring Tuesday ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Snoozed a bit again this morning but still made it up in time for my class at the Y and despite almosttttt bailing, I hit the treadmill for 6 easy miles after work - and as soon as I finish this little update Iโ€™ll be wrapping up the night with some PT work (whist powering through the never ending West Wing). Having a pressure cooker is amazing! I can set it to cook my food, pop out for a run and have a delicious meal ready when I get home.

This soup took 6 minutes under pressure and made enough for lunch tomorrow. ๐Ÿ‘

So insanely proud of @muddwarrior, whose been rocking podiums since going through my OCR Peak Performance Program in 2017. First she took silver in her age group at @ocrwc 15K in 2017. In her 2018 season she took 5 podiums JUST IN THE MONTH OF JUNE!!! Then she won gold in the 3K and 15K in her age group at @noramchamps 2018.

Marcia trains her ass off. Seriously. I am so inspired when I watch her workout. She also takes care of her body and prioritizes mobility work, recovery and NUTRITION. She wasn't afraid to invest in coaches along the way to help her get to where she is today.

Has anyone else reached that point in #marathontraining where your body is like โ€œeat all the things, all the timeโ€? ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Well, rather than keep up the bad eating habits summer travel brought me over the past two months, Iโ€™m trying to get back to my crunchy, granola self that you all love ๐Ÿ˜‰ Homemade Lara bars (or Lara balls in this case ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ), are easy enough that I was able to roll out a batch before breakfast. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Hereโ€™s the recipe for all of you who are always interested in or curious about my โ€œweird-Tessa-snacks.โ€
2 c. Pitted dates
1 c. Walnuts
4 T cocoa powder
1 T vanilla extract
Add some fun Mixings like carob chips and/or peanuts, blend it up in the food processor, roll โ€˜em out, and store them in the fridge.

I don't usually post much food but today's lunch was just soo good! I made crispy teriyaki tofu and broccoli with brown rice based on a recipe from @reciperunner. Did not press the tofu all that much but it still turned out crispy, the broccoli did not burn or turn bitter (I guess I was thinking of brussel sprouts) and the homemade teriyaki sauce was so good I wish I had made more. Plus there was a good deal of vegan protein. Day 132 - 14.8.18 ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿ‘–. I woke up this morning not wanting to go to work. It was cold and all I wanted to do was stay in bed and snuggle with my boys. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐ŸถI dragged this sorry ass out of bed and went to work. I always have a good day when good staff are on, and today was one of those days. The best part about finishing at 4 today was knowing I donโ€™t have to go back to work until Thursday. Bring on the public holiday!! I scooted out to North Lakes to pick up my jeans I ordered online, only to be told they couldnโ€™t find my order. My order had been signed in as arrived but where they went after that, who knows๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. Anyway, the girls in the shop were ever so apologetic and just took the jeans I ordered off of the shelf. I ordered 2 x size 12 jeans but thought I would try them on before I took them home. Luckily I did bc, to my amazement, I had to downsize one pair to a size 10. I havenโ€™t fitted into a size 10 for a few years now. I was stoked. I probably still look like a pumba but who cares when I can fit into a size 10 jean. Woohoo!! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Day 131 - 13.8.18 ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป. I have just realised itโ€™s been 131 days since I signed up to @sami_rose_ 8 week challenge and I am still going strong. I have loved and still love counting macros and doing all of Samiโ€™s exercises, along with my jogging and cycling. Although I am not at the weight I want to be yet, I am getting there. I came home from work, late again I might add, so I quickly did an ab workout, on top of my 10000 plus steps. I have been struggling these past weeks to keep on top of my protein so I am determined to focus on getting as much protein in me as possible. My daughter did a  wonderful job making Cottage Pie for dins but didnโ€™t realise that we had two different packs of mince in the freezer, one for the dogs and one for us. She was just about to put the potato on the mince when we realised she had used the pork mince we bought for the dogs. My poor darling, she had spent the last half hour making sure she weighed all the ingredients for the mince too. A little annoyed with herself, she started all over again, this time using the right mince. The boys loved it so she was at least happy about that. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ

Dinner at Whole Foods last night.  This Whole Foods had a little front porch that you could sit and eat in which we definitely took advantage of!  Salads ๐Ÿฅ— with a mountain view โ›ฐ the box had greens, beets, celery, carrots ๐Ÿฅ• cabbage, cucumber ๐Ÿฅ’ tomatoes ๐Ÿ… zucchini, broccoli ๐Ÿฅฆ cauliflower, bell peppers ๐ŸŒถ and I also had a chicken breast on the side.  AND of course some water (which was 10,000 year old spring water!) because hydration is key ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿ”‘ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Took me longer than I care to admit I need all three macronutrients (protein, carbs and fats) at every meal. (My body runs best on carbs!) Day 130 - 12.8.18 ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŒฎ. After my gain on the scales yesterday, I am determined to shed them by next week. Itโ€™s not that I donโ€™t want to exercise or am too lazy to exercise, itโ€™s fitting it in around my shifts at work but if it means getting up early and exercising before work, then thatโ€™s what I do. Today I set off to do my run, not sure how far I was going to run, nor how my knee would even hold up, but I was full of energy. I ran 8 kms with absolute ease but my knee gave me some jip which slowed my pace down. I did do better this week running wise than last week though which I am pleased about. After my run we took the boys out for a big walk at Petrie park which they loved immensely. Not sure if they enjoyed their walk or their swim more. Made the most of my day off today, prepped lunches for the week, did all of the household chores and even cleaned the car. For dins we had a taco night. Havenโ€™t had tacos in a long while now and they were delicious.

A real treat this morning!!! After a long, sweaty ride on the stationary bike, I treated myself to a breakfast that I rarely get to make, since Iโ€™m always on the go. This morning, my mom and I made some cinnamon swirl french toast! We use the brown sugar bread from Pepperidge Farm, and make french toast with it, and then top with fruit, peanut butter, and a little syrup. The fruit of the day was a plum, and it was surprisingly good! Although this kind of breakfast is certainly a treat, it is important to have it every once in a while ๐Ÿ˜Š

With less than 11 weeks to go before we set off to NYC for the big marathon, Georgias training is on point. Well done darling, keep up the hard work. I really donโ€™t know how you do it. At least with the Ekka in town, it wasnโ€™t as busy on the river so we could run and ride without all the crazy people in the road. Happy weekend to you! Rainy days like this are calling for decadent brekkie ๐Ÿ˜ It has been really long since I shared ๐Ÿจ jars so here they come again! Great option for protein-fat based brekkie as well. For the cookie-like-dough you need only 3 ingredients - can of chickpeas (or equivalent of cooked one), 3 tbsp peanut butter & 5 tbsp maple syrup. You can add a bit of vanilla paste/essence as well. Put all ingredients in food processor and push start button ๐Ÿ˜Š thatโ€™s it - super easy & yummy alone but if you mix it with chia pudding & top with melted dark chocolate & roasted salt almonds itโ€™s even more decadent & delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ how do you like recipe & pic without fruit/colors for a change? Day 128 - 10.8.18 ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿ”. TGIF..... gosh what a long week. I set my alarm for 0545 this morning to go for a quick jog with my daughter before work. The alarm goes off so I half get dressed and then got back into bed to wait for my daughter to come and get me. She came to get me alright, she plonked herself right underneath the covers of my warm bed, still in her pjs I might add. How slack was she, at least I made an effort to go for a walk. So we lay in bed and decided to walk after work when we got home. Did that happen?? No. We will blame that retched traffic again. Tomorrow is my daughters big marathon training day, so we will both be up and out of the house for 830 to ride 20 something kms around the Brisbane river again. Time for NYC is creeping up. So exciting!!! And what day is it again tomorrow?? Weigh in day so those scales better not let me down.

yesterday i took a couple bins of vegetables to summer camp and had the kids make their own personal salads. maybe it was because i handed them all knives or they were hungry, or that i deliberately left the ranch dressing off the dayโ€™s plan, but by the time the delighted chopping and snacking was done, they all went back for fistfuls more, eating what was left completely unadorned, happily. i always smile at this because thatโ€™s often how i like vegetables too, and why this time of year, the best snacks are usually found in this space, raw, unwashed, and straight from the ground.

I donโ€™t understand where all this traffic has come from over these past few months but it is really getting on my nerves. For dins tonight was chicken and vege.
