Do you ever struggle to get the right amount of depth and dimension with your balayage?
I often find many of my clients wanting more contrast with their blonde, but are afraid of adding depth (darker base/lowlight) or don’t have the time or budget for a full balayage.
The solution? A little bit of both!
I like to keep the base as close to the natural colour as possible for easy maintenance, but going 1-2 levels darker will make the excising lightness pop much more!
I like to finish it off by doing a simple balayage around the face and top layer! Like a veil of brightness 👰🏼
Combining a slightly darker root, targeted balayage, and using the remaining hair as the lowlight is the most effective way to achieve the perfect amount of depth and dimension when on a time crunch or when introducing a client to balayage!
Try it out and see for yourself! ☺️

I want to know how you’d describe this blonde.. ..
What do you see? Ash? Gold? Beige?
Everyone’s eyes see colour differently and can make it very difficult when determining what you want!
I have always loved using pictures for references and inspiration! This close up is one of my favourites from this session!
To say I’m OBSESSED with this would be an understatement! 😍😍
Call me crazy, but I’m already thinking about new looks and techniques for next spring & summer.. 🤫
This one was not an easy process! I think it was 6 hours if I remember correctly? It was worth every minute! ☺️
I have a kind of exciting announcement coming up! 🤭 I’m incredibly nervous about it and have been waiting a LONG time for this, but I think I’m finally ready to share it with you.. Any guesses on what it might be? 🤔
An update on the much anticipated tutorial on how I get my “natural” curls! ..
For YEARS I have always hidden my naturally curly hair because I just didn’t like it.. It took me until now, 24 years later 🤫, to learn to love them and how to style my hair to enhance them PROPERLY!! (*hint: product, product, product!!) ☝🏼
My extensions, however, are not as naturally curly as my own hair. I will be home investing in custom curly extension from @philocalyhair for the next set I get!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Until then, I have found the perfect way to use heat styling and the right products to get the perfect naturally curly look that mimics my natural curl!
I’m still editing the tutorial, but it is coming soon! I promise! The only dilemma I am having is how much detail you want.. 🤷🏻♀️
Should I do the usual 1 minute tutorial with a voice over??
- OR -
Should I try out IGTV for the first time?!
Have you tried these products?
The "nourishing oil treatment" can be used on wet hair as a heat protectant before blow drying or after styling to calm any frizzies or tackle any dry ends! Also it protects your hair up to 450 degrees!
The "fortifying repair tonic" is used to reconstruct, restore and add moisture and shine back into damaged or color treated hair. This can be used on damp hair! All you need to do is spritz and style!
There was no way I could pick just one!! 🤩🤩🤩
SWIPE to see more angles and her before!! It is AMAZING what a fresh cut can do! Want thicker hair?? Get a GOOD cut! 👌🏼
Please tell me I’m not the only one obsessing over her new bright blonde locks! 😬😍
QUESTION: When’s the last time you got a GOOD cut?! (More than 1/2”-1” 😉)
At the end of my appointments I like to spend at least 5-10 minutes taking photos! 📸
I STILL struggle to get the “picture perfect” shot, hoping it will be THE ONE.. I get so disappointed when I just can’t seem to capture the hair the way I want or imagine and get so down about it 😞, BUT.. when I look back 6 months, 1 year, 2 years and see my progress and growth I quickly change my thought process!
What is a non-hair related skill you wish you could improve?
This might be one of my FAVOURITE sessions yet with @purplespoon!!
We don’t usually change up her colour toooo much, but this time we switched it up and deepened her root and did a few face framing balayage pieces to add more reflection and dimension! Did any of you see my story a few days ago of the process??
It was also our first time using @randco on her and we fell in LOVE!! Her hair blow dried SO smooth and frizz free thanks to PINSTRIPE and HIGH DIVE! And the weightless volume, texture, and shine TROPHY gave us was un-real!! 🏆💯

I don’t think I’ve ever had so many compliments on my hair than when I embrace and enhance my natural curl! ☺️
I’ve spent years straightening and waving my hair or just throwing it up in the same messy bun, but now I love showing off how curly my hair really is! 💁🏻♀️
Thanks to @philocalyhair extensions for giving me the length and volume that I DON’T have naturally! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I had a ton of request for a tutorial on this type of curl! Who is still interested?! 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏽♀️
GLOSSY GLOSS || 💦✨
Falling more and more in love with @schwarzkopfcan #morevibrance ! I love that it doesn’t lather when you’re working it into wet or dry hair and the shine is UNREAL!! My clients’ hair has been feeling even healthier after glossing!!
Change was scary and learning the ins and outs takes time.. Trying new formulas, trusting the process, and making adjustments are just part of this always changing industry!
STYLISTS: Are you using Vibrance?? How did you find the transition?! Any go-to formulas that you’d like to share? 🤗
