Do you know what can unite people easily?
During the Games from Around the World, #GAW , we shared traditional food from around the world and through that we could connect and learn about each others' culture!
Sack race and opening ceremony from Games from Around the world, #GAW !
During the opening ceremony we have welcomed all the amazing people who came along for our event and emphasised why diversity is important for our society!
Soon after we were all laughing or racing together during the sack race! Some fell, some came up with new techniques to win but we all had fun while watching it!
Enjoy the photos!
The most important thing is to bring joy to everyone!
Watch these kids playing together during our Games from Around the World, #GAW event! No matter what there background is, what's their past, their culture or the language they speak...they had shared fun moments, played and ate together!
Children, no matter where they are from, just would like to play. During GAW it was clear that we don't even need to speak the same language to play games together or understand which cake is the tastiest!
Join us behind the scenes of Games from Around the World, #GAW !
Our volunteer team is just as diverse as our events! Have a look on the photos from behind the scenes when new comer, Dutch and expat volunteers have all worked together to deliver a successful event!
No matter of language or cultural differences, we have all worked together towards a common goal, shared our expertise with each other, gave a hand when it was needed and shared an amazing multicultural food together at the end. “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” - Elizabeth Andrew
Meet the team behind the scenes from yesterday’s #GAW event!
Volunteers are the heart of our organisation and their enthusiasm and their willingness to contribute their time and their skills, helped us to offer a successful event yesterday! A huge round of applause for them! 💛🎉 Also, we would like to thank our main sponsors, Jumbo Supermarkten and WIJDOENMEE.NU for their generosity and their donations!
Last but not least, a big thank you for all the individual sponsors, partner organisations, like VluchtelingenWerk Nederland and She Matters for their support and help and also for the attendees for making this event unforgettable!
On Saturday we won't just play sports to build bridges between different people but we will also share amazing multicultural food! Because nothing can help better to bond people than food!
Have you been wondering what will we serve on the #GAW ?
For starters we'll have Arabic yebra, Nigerian fish rolls, Dutch borrelhapjes and Greek salad!

"You're not alone in the challenges to integrate in the Netherlands, as expats we have similar challenges." - David Zetland (Professor from LUC)
Yesterday we had students visiting us from Universiteit Leiden / Leiden University exploring how integration can be linked to the environment!
Students and new comers shared their experiences about integration, talked about the similarities and differences they have faced but at the end, they have all agreed, new comers and students alike, that they do miss their grandmothers' cooking! 🙂
Food, like education and the contact with habitats are all really important aspects for successful integration!

Our big, last event for the year is just around the corner and we would like to invite all of our new comers, donors, sponsors and friends who have been with us this year to celebrate the beauty of diversity through several games from around the world!
Beyond having fun, Games from Around the World, #GAW will encourage better integration of new comers into our communities, right here in the Hague. The event was designed to explore sports that cut across cultures as well we will have a local Dutch game!
As we will play together, we will discover where our cultures meet and where they are uniquely differ! Helping new comers who might find it difficult to integrate or even just to make new friends, to be able to use this platform to overcome these challenges can be highly beneficial.
We hope you will have an amazing time with us, explore games through a different lens, meet new people from around the world and discover some new things!
Don't forget to register, share the word with your friends and see you soon!
The event was generously sponsored by WIJDOENME.NU & Jumbo Supermarkten.
Beautiful things can happen everywhere... Today on our #DonationDay a pregnant lady came in and she was able to pick up a baby cot, a baby rocker and some nice baby clothes! She was over the moon, elated with joy by the generosity of the donors who made it possible for her to be able to get all these items for her baby!
Your generosity and kindness is the very essence of welcoming new comers into our communities and helping them to rebuild their lives!
We cannot thank you enough for your continuous support and donations and we wish you all a fabulous weekend! 💛
Have you been wondering where are we going on the Bike Tour on Saturday?
We'll visit the pretty Noordeinde palace (1), the Paleistuin Park (2), The Peace Palace (3) and the miniature city Madurodam (4)! After we have indulged ourselves into the main sights of The Hague we'll have a lovely picnic with Syrian Arias, Nigerian Puff puff and Sudanese foul! If you would like to, you can bring your own food to share with others!
There's nothing better to get to know your community than explore the city with others and share your food!
Join us on Saturday and register for the event!
Have you ever tried Arais or Puff puff?
If not, then it's your call to join our Bike Tour this Saturday! We will explore the city then have a lovely international picnic, where you can taste the Syrian Arais, a pita finger food stuffed with yummyness and the Nigerian puff puff, which is a traditional African snack, similar to a doughnut!
Sounds tasty isn't it?
