Blades and bells, 2 key components in my overall fitness. My last post 2 weeks ago I was talking about my knee being weird, couldn't really skate so I started messing with my kettlebells, around end of week 1 I decided to do 100 kb swings a day for 30 days, this is day 8 and even though I'm in Arlington I brought my bell with me 😎. I'm typically doing 5 rounds of 20 swings with an accessory exercise or 2 mixed in between swing rounds, no accessory today I skated 12 miles. These swings are on top of what I'm already doing in my training regimen. In addition to the kettlebell challenge I've been doing lots of rehab/stability type work on my legs concerning the IT band and muscles that affect it. Lots of balance board work and foam rolling action has really helped and my knee felt great today. I feel every inline skater, regardless of the discipline, would benefit from a balance board. So new trail, first time out in 2 weeks and first mile was sub 4 minutes, I'll take that ride. Going to continue my 30 days of swings challenge because I really feel it helped me with this first ride coming back so I'm gonna keep swinging. 2 10km, followed by 100 swings, good times. Oh yeah I was 8 freaking seconds away from a new 10km PR on the first ride! Ugh next time!!
