🦋The heavenly scent of Jasmine on the warm breeze greets us as we come and go. Brisbane Winter - hey!? 🦋

We planted these around 2.5yrs a go and this is the first season we get to enjoy them in bloom after the various adventures we’ve been on since we planted these. 🌱It takes 8 million of these blossoms, HAND-PICKED, to make just 1L of Jasmine essential oil. 🌱To make Jasmin essential oil, the flowers have to be hand-picked first thing on the first day they open and before the sun becomes too hot.😲 Many companies/suppliers will take shortcuts to produce essential oils, like growing crops with nasty chemicals and using nasty chemicals to extract more essential oil from plants, not to mention diluting the essential oils they sell with nasty chemicals.

When essential oils are so concentrated, the last thing you want are chemicals involved messing with your body, emotions and health, and not to mention making the oils far less effective than when pure.

This is why I admire and use Young Living essential oils, supplements, cleaning products, makeup and personal care products etc. Young Living oversee the whole SEED to SEAL process  for their essential oils and do more quality tests than any other.

😴#WellnessWednesday! For the next several weeks, we’re going to focus our #wellnesswednesdays discussions on the benefits of sufficient sleep and consequences of inadequate sleep.

😴We will get into more detail in the coming weeks, however, I want to share some findings from a high quality sleep investigation I read recently. We all know sleep is important and healthy for us, but how so?

😴This study is a systematic review, which is a fancy term for a summary article of all the available research on a given topic.
.
⁉️Their findings? Habitually inadequate sleep (<7 hours) or excessive sleep (>8-9 hours) is highly associated with an increased chance of early death! This is purely a correlation (not causation), however, so please don’t tell everyone you know that doesn’t sleep enough that they’re going to die.

🚨Regardless of the statistics / proposed mechanisms, the message remains clear: consistently getting 7-8 hours of sleep per night can do wonders for your health. So unless you want to look like my friend here, go get some sleep! (But not too much)

Today is #nationalrelaxationday and #wellnesswednesday so it is the perfect day to reflect on how well we are doing in finding ways and time for relaxing with ourselves or with our loved ones. Yes, we are all busy, but stress increases cortisol which in turn leads to weight and fat gain, increased cravings for carbs and sugar, compromised immune system, increased blood sugar and blood pressure, and reduced sex drive. Make some time in your calendar this week to go outdoors and do nothing, i.e. no concrete plan other than enjoying yourself or others. Share with me what you will be doing.
My relaxing things this week will be: going for a run (which I love), going to watch another sunset with my family (as in the photo), taking a bath with Epson salts, using my essential oils and reading a good book while enjoying a nice view. @lajolla.ca .

I’m working on creating some content for you guys to read, but instead of taking my laptop with me, I wanted to get away from the screens for a bit (with the exception of 📲). My headache reared it’s ugly head and it’s been with me the past 4 hrs. I plan on turning in early tonight once I get back home from my weekly therapist meeting. 
#wellnesswednesdays are a real thing in my life - for the past 3 years I’ve been meeting my therapist every Wednesday. Normally it’s my #meday ! 🎨🛍🧘‍♀️🍪🍒🌇🎥📖
I’ve been so focused on getting my business up and running that I decided to only take a few hours to myself today (but I found myself working anyways because I LOVE what I’m doing 💕)! I know everyone has a job, but not everyone can say they LOVE what they do. 🤓
Normally what I do for #selfcare is the following ;
- take inextricably long baths 🛀 - eat something sweet that’s definitely not on my nutrition plan 🍪 (definitely scarfed down a cookie before I took this photo)
- enjoy WAY TOO MUCH coffee ☕️
- see a movie in the theatre or read a book
- share all my worries and positive thoughts with my therapist 🙇‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
- snuggle with 🐶🐱💁‍♂️
- play around with food in the kitchen 🥦🥕🍅🍉🍇🍠 #foodpreparation

Throwback to the cutest little glass of water I had in Cabo for a coach trip this past January!😭😍(Take me back.) Although summer is over (as far as school is concerned, not this weather), I am still in summer mode and craving ALL the water-filled fruits!
Watermelon, honeydew melon, oranges, pineapple, grapes, etc.

Used to, those fruits would be OFF limits because they’re too high glycemic! Too much sugar! 😱 Heaven forbid I have FRUIT! That God made. 
And meant us to have an enjoy.🤦🏼‍♀️ Sometimes we really over complicate things.

But, that being said, I DO want to eliminate some snack sugary treats I have been letting myself have lately. I went live in my fitness group today and (among many things) mentioned going on a sugar detox,  but that I still wanted to keep my favorite coffee creamer... and while I’m at it—fruit. 
I felt like I couldn’t lead a sugar detox group if I wasn’t cutting it ALL out.
But a best friend of mine, @rachelwerline told me—so what? Who says? Keep your one thing! Cut out all processed sugar and keep your creamer!

I felt like I couldn’t lead a sugar detox group if I wasn’t cutting it ALL out. But a best friend of mine, @rachelwerline told me—so what? Who says? Keep your one thing! Cut out all processed sugar and keep your creamer! Usually, scheduling these means you need to find coverage for your students...which means taking sick leave and sub plans. So...don’t forget to schedule your appointments before you’re back! WEDNESDAY is for WELLNESS! Well at least for me this Wednesday is.  I’m having a bit of trouble getting started on my wellness planner.  This will be my first week ever using it and I’m starting in the middle of the week.  I scrolled through this hashtag: #wellnessplanner - to try and get inspired.  So many awesome spreads there. I think what I’m doing is I’ll do some journaling on the Monday Tuesday Wednesday spots. Try and set some goals as well. And then for the rest of the week you can see I plan to focus on hydrating and getting my steps in. It’s back to school and that means time to get organized to save you and your family time and stress. If you don’t already, try implementing the following strategies to make school mornings less hectic for everyone. 🍎Lay out clothes and shoes the night before 🍎Make lunch the night before 🍎All homework done afternoon/night before 🍎Sign notes, forms, planners the night before 🍎Completed homework in backpack 🍎Print a list of everything your child needs to complete before leaving for school each day. 🍎Get to bed early enough so that sleeping in doesn’t occur. 🍎Know what’s for breakfast and prepare as much of it as you can the night before.
