I can’t believe it’s the middle of September. I love the time after August through September because it’s a time of transition. It’s a time to reflect on everything that’s happened over the last 9 months, what goals did I set at the beginning of the year, how far did I come, what can I improve, how do I move forward on those goals that haven’t moved?

For me, almost half of 2018 was dedicated to completing my Nutritional Therapy Practitioner certification, which led me to try and figure out how to start a business. It’s not easy, but I’ve made some positive steps forward and am excited to keep pushing.

One of my goals for the rest of 2018 is to be more open. We all have ups and downs and we tend to share the ups and not the downs. But how good does it feel when you see someone share a struggle and how they are overcoming it?

This ma homies is my second attempt at making Vietnamese summer rolls....probs need to get the hang of stuffing them evenly and maybe roll the other way so they are long instead of short and stubby...BUT managed to roll dem rice papers nicely without them breaking. If I need a snack this is my go to. Stuff these bad boys with raw veggies and prawns for a good alternative to sarnies. #holistichealing #glutenfree

TBH I wasn't a huge fan of the texture and consistency of liver by itself. It's weird because I'm so used to eating chewy muscle meat,  while this offal practically melted in my mouth after one bite. So, I thought it might help if I disguised it in a meal with some guac and I was so right! If I didn't know any better (because obvs I made it myself) I wouldn't have even known that I was eating liver inside my taco 🤪

One of my most surprising discoveries during my health journey is that I don't do well with caffeine... at all! Surprising because I used to drink coffee multiple times a day when I worked in marketing, sometimes just to get out of the office for a minute. Now that I live in Sweden, fika (taking a coffee break) is such a big part of the culture, and it can be hard to find fun caffeine-free drinks to try. So I decided to branch out to matcha, which is green tea so it's slightly caffeinated, but not anywhere near coffee. Well, first of all, it was delicious, and second of all, holy caffeine Batman! Luckily I didn't get jittery but I DID feel like I was on speed. You guys, the amount of caffeine in a matcha latte is basically equivalent to tripping for me 😂😂 I was on fire, the whole afternoon I was coming up with new business ideas and blog posts, i don't think my boyfriend has seen me with this much energy in a long time! So long story short, probably don't want to be tripping every day, but for those who do well with caffeine but are looking for a lower-caf alternative, give matcha a try! And #interstitialcystitis peeps, it felt ok with my bladder. I ran to foreign countries when I was 18 to try and heal the fucked up relationships with my ex boyfriends. I would drink and try and make them as numb as possible, to wake up and realize they were still there. I would run to forest when I was a little girl to sit on a rock and cry. I would run far & I would run fast. 
About 4 years ago I began on my yoga (spiritual?) journey because I had enough running. I was tired. This journey has not been easy. It has peeled back so many layers I NEEDED to shed. I needed healing and I wanted to get rid of these stories I’ve been telling myself forever. They weren’t true. This past week I was tested. This has been the hardest test the universe has ever given me. And somehow I feel oddly OK. I’m trying to make sense of what is going on in this physical time space reality, but maybe I don’t have to. Maybe you don’t have to.

PERFECTLY IMPERFECT 
I had a realisation recently that I haven’t quite been showing up on this page. I show up 110% in every other area of my life so why not here? I am a perfectionist. The problem with this is that I get caught being stagnant and not moving forward because things aren’t quite “perfect”, “not quite right”. Can you relate? Well for me it’s time this stopped. Brace yourself! This page is probably going to look like a dogs breakfast as I haven’t got a solid content plan or beautifully curated images to work with, nor do I have the time to prioritise this as the moment. I think it’s important that I connect with you and show you the real me. Life is too short to hold back and wait for the perfect moment- I am not even sure if that exists!

So today was a bit emotional for me. My Grandma moved out while we move in with my brother. I thought i would be ok with it because any normal human knows we all need a break from our loved ones every now and again. But after she left - i went and picked up dinner & completely lost it. I held it together infront of my husband and kids but as soon as i was alone, it reached the boiling point. 
Does anyone else not like showing their emotions? Feeling vulnerable? It is totally OKAY to show your emotions - and thats what i need to keep telling myself! Emotions are normal & it doesn't matter a f**k what you're emotional about - you're feeling something. Let it out! •

It can be hard to find time to do nothing though in our busy schedules. So, it's important to schedule this time, put it in your calendar, turn off your phone and just be. You don't have to meditate during this time but if that's part of your practice you can. ⠀

My feelings towards taking supplements shifted while I was pregnant with my son. During pregnancy, we become hyper aware of our bodies and go into full protection mode on everything that enters it. Which is why now I believe so strongly how we treat our bodies while pregnant is the ultimate benchmark on how we should always show our bodies love and respect. Since the choices you make with your diet represent self love, it’s natural your emphasis on nutrient requirements should be top priority as well.

Here is the line up for my daily supplement routine:

Women’s Prenatal - Companies put a lot of diligence into crafting good quality prenatal supplements, because the industry is very competitive and the market potential is HUGE. I take Whole Earth & Sea prenatal for a few reasons. (1) Non-GMO active organic ingredients, (2) MTHF the active form of folate, (3) ingredients like selenium, spirulina, sprouted broccoli that are not found in your average multi. I take two supplements daily with food, as directed.

TerraZyme - This is new in the line up for me. After years of absorption issues and classifying my body as a “supplement graveyard”, I started looking into the benefits of enzymes. To put it simply, the enzymes help my body break down carbs, protein, fat and fiber and convert these nutrients to energy in cells. 2 daily before meals.

Magnesium - I take this religiously at night to help my body relax and reduce any anxious feelings before bed. Magnesium is necessary for amino acid metabolism and energy (ATP) production.

Omega 3 - Another prenatal supplement recommended by every study out there. I take Minami Nutrition superior DHA formula because the fish oil comes from mackerel, sardines and anchovy limiting heavy metal exposure. Omega 3’s support cognitive health and brain function.

B12 - Although I am slowly coming off a vegetarian diet, because I continue to have absorption issues I still take B12 to support energy and the production of red blood cells. .
I also take adaptogen herbs daily, depending on the amount of stress my body/mind/emotions are under. Because of my love for adaptogens, I will create a separate post. ✌🏼

It’s the end of season for peaches and raspberries so I’m making the most out of them. 
With yogurt soaked chia and paleo granola it’s a no brainer. PS: #Danes know how to granola, each time I visit I’m speechless at the quality of food. You guys got it figured out, at least in Copenhagen!

STEP BY STEP - fave granola - simple chia pudding (soak chia seeds in yogurt until they swell roughly about a tsp of chia to half a cup of yogurt of choice)

BREAKFAST FOR A QUEEN 👸 [recipe below] It’s the end of season for peaches and raspberries so I’m making the most out of them. With yogurt soaked chia and paleo granola it’s a no brainer.
