‘I’m eating well, all healthy foods’ 🤔. That may be the case, but you can still overeat on healthy foods 😨. Track your calories to get a better look at your energy balance ⚖️. Either use myfitnesspal to track them yourself or hire a nutritionist/ dietitian to create one for you 📃.

‘I’m training 3-4 times a week in the gym’ 😰. But are you TRAINING or just going to the gym? Are you pushing yourself for that extra rep you didn’t get last week or adding that extra weight on your next set? 💪🏼 You have to stay progressive. Following a plan gives you a clear path to follow. To make it even clearer, hire a coach 👨🏻‍💻.

Everyone’s water intake will be different 💦, but aim for 2-4 litres a day. Your weight is affected by how much water you’re holding 💧, so that’s going to impact your numbers on the scale. Stay hydrated! 🥤

One of the problems is that you see yourself everyday, so you may not see the little changes 📅. Your weight may not change, but the shape of your body might be 🍑. A weightlifting belt can be an extremely helpful tool for the strength athlete. When it comes to lifting heavy weight, research has shown that athletes who wear a belt correctly tend to lift heavier weights with more explosive power.✅

In fact, research has shown IAP (Intra-abdominal pressure) values can increase anywhere from 20-40% when wearing a belt during a heavy squat - which means more core stiffness!✅

That being said, a weight belt is NOT designed to decrease or fix your back pain. Most people develop back pain when lifting due to poor movement quality & an inability to use their own “natural weightlifting belt” through proper core stability. Putting on a belt when you have back pain is like putting a band-aid on the problem - it does NOT address WHY you have developed the pain. While our society preaches and tries to sell you on short term fixes for your problems- I’m here to tell you that is NOT how to find real lasting results. If you have back pain, you need to drop your ego & the weight and address why the issue started in the first place (I’ll be talking more in depth on back pain the next few months).👊🏼

In my opinion, a good rate of weight gain for most intermediate/advanced trainees is between 1-1.5% of body weight per month 🍖🍕

There is not one standard calorie surplus that I recommend to people. I will usually increase calories from maintenance and track bodyweight to see what calories yield the appropriate rate of gain 😁

It is important to understand that people have individual reactions to an increase in calories; some might increase NEAT and even body temperature to almost negate it while another person may feel sluggish with all the food and gain more fat 🤦‍♂️

Fully embracing the cooler weather in Florida and enjoying wearing sweatshirt in the morning. It’s a nice switch up from walking outside at 5 am and immediately sweating 😅 Got Pull day done this morning💪🏼 & I’m stoked cus my (very assisted🙈) wide grip pull ups are finally starting to get better! Idk why they are SO hard but slowly I’m reducing the amount of assistance needed 💁🏼‍♀️
