SUB YOUR SUGAR?
I’ve had LOADS of questions about sugar substitutes/artificial sweeteners etc. (@margaretschlenert @bunnia @mayah_haidar @djbabybokchoyy @emi1ybaxter @andrea_tabordas @chungalunga_ )
As pictured. Synthetic sweeteners are chemically produced and used in A LOT of ‘diet’ products - Diet Soft drinks and cordials, yoghurts, low carb bars, etc. There is ongoing controversy about these and whilst food authorities have deemed them to be in foods in safe amounts, you need to decide if you want to include these in your diet. I personally do not like to use these much and I dislike their synthetic taste (although I do have the occasional Coke Zero).
Sugar alcohols are a type of carb that is poorly absorbed by our gut- because some of these substances are still absorbed they do still contain some sugar/calories. The amounts are usually quite small but differ depending on which sugar alcohol is added. The downside with sugar alcohols is that they can bring on IBS symptoms in SOME people. They fall into one of the FODMAP groups that people may be sensitive to.
Stevia is the most common plant extract sweetener and is the newest kid on the block. This is my personal fave because it is a plant extract and I prefer the flavour over other sweeteners.
Overuse of sweeteners will also train your palate for very sweet things so having even these in moderation is important. 🙌🏽

Some are hits, some are misses. The hits, well, I find they happen in super well controlled scenarios. The misses, quite the opposite. How do I move from creating a hit in a well defined setup to a hit in an all or nothing anything goes completely out in the wild scenario? The quest continues...
🌈 Who Loves Summer Treats ? 📷 by @vegan.dy 🚨🚨Recipe: Spicy yogurt dip.
- mix 1 cup cashew yogurt or other plantbased yogurt of your choice with 1 Tbsp tomato paste, 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 Tbsp sesame seed oil, 2 Tbsp agave nectar, 1 Tsp spiced paprika, 1/4 Tsp chili flakes (use more or less depending on your preferences) and 1/2 Tsp salt; mix until well combined.
7 sheets rice paper
1/2 avocado sliced
1/4 cup each of green, red and yellow pepper sliced
One zucchini spiralized or finely cut
One carrot spiralized or finely cut
One cucumber spiralized or finely cut
1/4 of a small red cabbage, shredded
1/2 can chickpeas
100 g cellophane noodles or rice noodles
Pinch of sea salt
Boil the noodles as per the instructions on the package, discard the hot water and rinse with cool water. Optional: Color one part of the noodles with beet juice and stir until all the noodles are pink. You can color the other part with a little bit of spirulina powder (for a nice turquoise color) or with turmeric powder (for a nice yellow color), get creative!
Finely cut or spiralize your veggies and fruits (in case you want to use fruits too)
Roast chickpeas with a little bit of oil and soy sauce (optional) in a saucepan
Fill a large bowl or pot with water and completely dip your rice paper in the water for about 10-20 seconds
use a lightly greased parchment paper, to avoid that the rice paper sticks to the surface. Place your (cooled) noodles and veggies in the center of the rice paper and a bit in front of it:
Roll it up carefully, it's a bit tricky since the rice paper is very thin and can burst easily. always seal the sides first
Dip in sauce

Something I #wrote several years ago: A man who lost his everything all off a sudden is #walking in the #streets with a #flowerpot with a single #rose . No matter where he goes, he have the flowerpot with him and as #time goes by, the man is gaining #weight , while the flower keep on looking even better. A businessman who has everything a man can possibly ask for, keep walking by this man everyday seeing this mans condition. One #day as he is #dressed in one of his most #expensivesuits and shining #loafs , he walks toward the man and decides to hear his #story . The #sun has burned him badly and he is small as bones, still he hold the rose in the flowerpot and looks at it with so much #love . The man says. ”Hello...” and the poor man looks up at him surprised over him speaking as he usually always walk by him. ”... is it bad of me if i ask you why you look this bad while this flower is shining as a artworlk?” The man looks sad at the #flower in his hands and with trembling voice he says. ”I used to have everything you have and I never once stoped to be #thankful off it. Within 1 year I #lost my #job , my #wife and #kids in a #trafficaccident and my home. All i had left from my beloved wife was this rose she had bought. She used to take so good care of it.” The businesman got deeply touched of his story but still he couldn’t stop from asking:
”But how do you manage to keep it this beautiful?”
”I water it with my tears.” The man says and walks his way. I hope you guys get the message. Be thankfull for everything you have. #instagood#instapic#instagram#instastory#like4like#likeforlike#follow4follow#followforfollow
