The more you travel around Odisha, the more you believe in the tagline Scenic, Serene and Sublime. Last weekend I travelled to Daringbadi with 9 other adventure enthusiasts. Though we went a month early, the best time to visit is November mid to January mid, still the evenings were cold. The lush green forest, hilly terrains, low temperatures and scenic drive were the highlights of the trips.
We stayed at DEERS ECO HOME which was just basic but served nice home cooked food. CHICKEN KASA, CHICKEN CURRY, BREAD OMELLETES & ALOO POSTO stood out from the three meals we had here. The curries they cooked were spicy.
On your return journey we had lunch at KALINGA DHABA just before the Kalinga ghat. Except the Chicken Biryani, every other dish was either average or a let down.
This trip was more about the place than the food. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for a short weekend trip as the travel season just kicked in for Odisha. (N.b. :- Check out stay options at Daringbadi Nature Camp, it offers better views and stay)

I am famous (read: notorious) for overpacking for even the shortest of trips. What can I say...I come with a lot of baggage 😜 When @terra_elsberry and I went to Ohio for a 48 hour trip last year, she made fun of me for bringing my biggest suitcase. Like the one you can fit a grown man in....and it was full 😂 (the Girl Scouts taught me to always be prepared and I take that very seriously). For that same trip this year, I’m making a (feeble) attempt to fit everything into my purse (the biggest one I have), a backpack and my Apolis bag, which is pretty roomy and can hold over 100lbs. Challenge accepted, Apolis 😂 This is just the start of what I need to pack. So, who thinks I can make it all fit and who things I’m gonna cave and bust out the worlds largest suitcase?
