It can be hard to end the week with as much energy as you start off with - how do you go about it? Earlier nights? New regime?

We don’t think it necessarily means big life overhauls - making small incremental changes to your days can have a MASSIVE effect. For example - getting some peace of mind by turning off those notifications can be totally transforming. This is something our Creative Director did recently and in her words ‘you don’t even realise the toll that your phone pinging and lighting up every other minute has on you. You’re always distracted, always on edge, unable to give true focus to what’s happening in that moment. Until you swipe that tiny tab and within the hour my mind felt more peaceful. Being on top of every word shared is totally detrimental... and not necessary!’

Make sure there aren't any loose strings, like on hoodies, shoelaces or hair ties that may catch or trip your child as she plays. Our whirlwind trip through California ends tomorrow as we head back to our second favorite C state, Colorado.  I couldn’t think of a better way to end our tour than a hike with my dad ❤️ He’s the best and I feel beyond blessed to know he always has my back. So much love for you California and all the memories we are taking home with us. We will always love our safe place nestled below the arms of Mt. Today I did a weight/hiit workout at around 6:30 pm. While I don’t necessarily care for workouts to be done this late I will say this. If your health is important to you, you will do it anytime that you can get. Whether that’s 5:00 in the morning, 3:00 in afternoon, or even 7:00 pm if you do it, than that’s an A+ in my book.

It is so important for your body to move. That is what it is supposed to do, and in this day and age where most people have office jobs, exercise is detrimental to keeping a healthy body.

Ingredients

1 IN:Peace packet
2 cups almonds I used 1 cup chopped and 1 cup sliced
1 cup walnuts roughly chopped
1 cup coconut flakes
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1/3 cup maple syrup
¼ cup coconut oil melted
¼ cup creamy almond butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons cinnamon
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup dried blueberries (I like Trader Joe's)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 300ºF and line a baking sheet (or 2, if they're smaller) with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix together the almonds, walnuts, coconut flakes, and chia seeds.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the IN:Peace, maple syrup, coconut oil, almond butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and kosher salt.
Pour the wet ingredients over the dry and stir until all the dry ingredients are coated. Spread the granola mixture into an even layer on the prepared baking sheet(s).
Bake for 50 minutes to an hour, turning the pan every 20 minutes and mixing to ensure it doesn't burn.
Remove from the oven and press down slightly to help form clusters, and then let cool completely without disturbing to help the clumps form. Once cooled, toss in the dried blueberries.
Store in a sealed container or bag at room temperature for about a month, or in the refrigerator or freezer for longer.

Whether performing high-intensity intervals, strength training or endurance activities, the following six foods have been shown to enhance performance by improving time to exhaustion, decreasing perceived exertion, increasing speed, decreasing lactic acid production or decreasing levels of fatigue. ▪️Caffeine - stimulates the  central nervous system, increases alertness and decreases perceived exertion. While it promotes the release of fatty acids, fat burning doesn’t increase during physical activity and carbohydrate stores are not protected. start at a lower dose as side effects can include rapid heart rate, dizziness, hypoglycemia, anxiety and jitters ▪️whey protein - best known for its ability to help increase muscle mass. an intake of greater than 2.5g/kg of body weight can lead to increased dehydration, low-carbohydrate intake and excessive calorie intake, as well as increased excretion of urinary calcium. Ten to 20 grams of whey protein are recommended prior to weigh training to enhance muscle strength, increase endurance and decrease muscle breakdown. After a workout, 20-30 grams of whey taken within 30 minutes can enhance muscle recovery and improve muscle protein synthesis. Is it a matter of semantics? No. We should all aim to be athletes, even if we don’t step foot on a field or court. Training is an organized set of activities that prepare one to be at their best at a specific time. For example, I have a meet on July 7th. It is then where I have to be at my best. The weeks leading up to this date I am making very calculated decisions about my preparation. Hence, the 5Ps - Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. Training is having specific and measurable goals. Exercise is essentially any arbitrary movement that promotes well-being. While non-exercise activity is important (I.e. parking car far away, taking the stairs, etc...), training is conducive to optimizing one’s maximal ability. Over the years I’ve exercised. And over the years I’ve trained. Without a doubt, I’ve been in my top shape when I trained. This means that I was preparing for a goal with a specific date. Want to break a plateau? Start training with a date in mind. It could be a photo shoot, it could be a 5k, a powerlifting meet, or a hike on formidable terrain. Bottom line is that if you decide to train, you will be adequately prepared to be your best. #wednesday #wednesdaywisdom #wednesdaywellness

4. Enjoy something everyday that MONEY can not buy! When I get home and get to see my sweet fur babies. Their smiles just light me up. I Appreciate the fact that I get to see my hubby every night where as some people don’t get to see their spouse at the end of each day. I get to do Cardio Funk on Wednesday’s with this beautiful lady. .

One of the perks to jury duty downtown last week was getting to meet up with @mrsdrallie during my lunch break and check out a new place. Tried a few of the tacos, all of which were amazing, but this was my favorite. Raw tuna, lime cilantro aioli, pickled onion, avocado and cabbage in a lettuce tortilla (on the menu it’s the O.M.F.G). The drinks looked interesting as well but since I had to go back to jury duty I didn’t try any - next time!

What's your favorite taco combo? For me, the more cilantro and avocado the better!
