By nature I’d rather stay up late. I struggled as a teen and kid to wake up early for school. Rolling out of bed. 😴Always in a rush- a panic because i was late after hitting snooze 37 times.
Early in my marriage i decided since my husband had to drive an hour to work, i worked long hours, and hardly saw him sometimes, that I’d wake up with him. Because i wanted to make his morning a little easier and so i could actually kiss 💋 him goodbye and see him for a short minute.
Then, I’d go back to bed. 🤦🏼♀️ 3 1/2 years later i still wake up with him. I still pack his lunch and breakfast and say goodbye. What’s different now is i don’t go back to bed. Instead some days i wake up before him, have a little me time and then have a few more hours to do stuff around the house and not be rushed.
Not cause I’m some super wife. I’ve committed to being intentional. With my marriage and with my health. The days i don’t wake up at 5, I’m rushed. I have to do the house stuff when i get home from work (no thanks!) that cuts into my time with Dustin and frankly my drive to do it is close to zero.
I had to reach out for extra accountability cause 5am when the weather gets colder is harder when it’s nice out. I’m working on creating a new habit but i had to refocus on WHY i wanted to get up at 5. I had to keep that front and center. One of my affirmations i write every day is “i wake up at 5am with energy and excitement to start my day.” Don’t compare your day one to my 3 1/2 years. Do one thing today that can help you create a good habit to reach your goals. (And if you’re a crazy early 🐦 and want to make sure I’m up at 5am EST feel free to keep me accountable 😬)
