So it's been a bit since I've posted. My workouts have been sporadic due to some unforeseen life issues getting in the way. The engine in my car went out several weeks ago making getting to the gym difficult. The same week, my hours at work were cut in half & I no longer had the freedom to work from home, which made my schedule tighter for meeting @lupe_castello for our workouts. My life has been such turmoil for the last 6 months that I think I fell into some type of depression & have been barely holding my head above water. One of the 2 people that I'm closest to in my life moved to KC yesterday & I spent the day cleaning to keep myself busy to keep from crying. It was during this time I was able to reflect on all the things I had been neglecting lately including myself. I haven't been sleeping more than 3 hours a night, my diet has been less than desirable, my house is a mess, & I'm just a mess in general too.
I still have 50 lbs I wanna lose. In order to do so, I need to pick myself up and get things straight. I have put myself on a new schedule. Bedtime at 10 p.m. Gym by 730 a.m. & I have an amazing new friend who's helping me learn more in depth about nutrition so I can lose the rest of my weight & achieve my goals. Each day is a chance at a new beginning. Warning long post ahead 💁🏻♀️ I’m never one to shy away from a challenge so with Europe 6 weeks away (😁) I’ve decided to do a mini 6 week challenge to see how much fat (not weight) I can drop without any fad dieting!
As a Nutritionist and Personal Trainer I spend most of my time helping others reach their health and fitness goals, but in the midst of all this (and life in general) I have forgotten to take care of myself and my health (I’ve always been better at taking care of others than myself). So after a year and a half of non-consistency and too many yummy treats (no regrets here) I’ve finally decided to clean up my act and treat myself and my body right. I will be sharing my journey with you all as a way to keep myself accountable and to hopefully inspire others to take the steps needed for a healthier life.
There will be no ‘fad dieting’ just good food and training.
You will be able to see what I eat and how I train mostly on my instagram stories but I will also share progress photos as I go along.
My starting stats are:
I KNEW when I got back from the bachelorette weekend, I would not want to go to the gym. I KNEW I was going to be tired and it was going to be a challenge. BUT I went and did it anyways!
Not only did I do it, but I slayed the final work out of #ashleyhornertransformyou#becomingextradordinary#phase1 !
Tomorrow I begin #phase2 and am continually making progress with the @transformyouchallenge!
The WOD was tough, but my times improved AND I shedded some time off my 1.5 mile sprint! (It says run in the program, but when you’re being timed for effort, you gotta give it everything ya got)
I went in feeling tired and weak and I left the gym feeling strong, sweaty and stinky as hell, but I KNEW I killed it! #watchmekillit#breathemorebemore
Day 7 of #becomingextradordinary by @ashley.horner. When I woke up this morning and checked this workout, I thought to myself “get your butt outta bed and finish strong” I ended up being the only person in the ENTIRE gym! I put my earphones in, set up my tracker, and got to work. By the time I was done recording my 1.5 mile run, I was completely unmotivated to get 30 additional minutes of cardio, but I am determined to do this, and do it right!
After a long workout I was beat, thankfully the 2nd coffee shop I hit would put my protein powder in their machines and make me a custom Espresso Protein Shake! 2 more hours of meal prep and chores and I’m set to start next week which kicks off the official beginning of #ashleyhornertransformyou !
I said before this summer is filled with several activities and events, hopefully purchase my first home, on top of all the temptations of the season. But THIS, this I can control, this I can prep for, this I know if I give 110% everyday I can succeed. So here’s to everyone beginning this challenge with me. Good MORNING!!! Today’s workout was at home and obviously my space is far from fancy nor is it a true garage gym BUT it’s space!!👍🏼 I can play my music without waking anyone up, I may get creative with my equipment (i.e. @homedepot buckets and an old cheer box) BUT I get the job done!!👊🏼💪🏼 This has become the easy part for me🏋🏼♀️ now onto the hard part 🥦🍏🍓🍳🥩 👦🏼👧🏼🧒🏼👦🏼 #watchmekillit 🔴Swipe to see my workout & I did finish with the treadmill @ 10% incline hands-free steady walk at speed 3 for 20 minuets. As we close out another year I can’t help but count my blessings.
I’ve come so far in 2017 leaving me eager to see how bad ass I’ll be in 2018. I’ve learned the importance of loving myself, I’ve made amazing new friends, and I have a family worth dying for.
I’ve even made some career moves, continue to kill it at home improvements and bought me a new ride.
If there’s one thing I’m a tad disappointed in it’s my health and fitness journey. I ROCKED it- I mean totally killed it the majority of 2017, but towards the end of the year I’ve let the winter time blues, stress, and life eat away at that passion that burnt so deep inside.
We’re human right?! This year: I’m getting back on track with my health and focusing 120% on my precious little family ❤️ 💥 Open invite for ALL who want to jump on board with their heath and fitness goals this new year! ❤️
Far from the end goal...
One of the biggest problems with people is instant gratification. .
We can pick our phone up and it lights up. We click a button and it unlocks. We hit two more buttons and we have payed our bill, called our friend half way across the world, seen a picture of our brother/sister on their vacation, texted a loved one. The list goes on. .
Life has been made so simple that we expect everything to happen with a tap of our finger. .

I’ve seen this happen time and time again at work. Someone automatically shuts down because they think it can’t be done. (Negative Nancy’s).
