Boardgamegeek Con 2018 - Saturday evening. My last game of the Con was Fire in the Lake. We played the middle scenario with 4 Coup phases. Steve Gallob was the ARVN, Michael McCalpin the VC, Kent Tieman the NVA, and I was the USA.
This was a very competitive game and very close especially between the 3rd and 4th Coup cards. Kent's NVA won by 1 VP over both the USA and the VC - all three having satisfied their victory condition.
Travelers, Rogue Traders and Adventurers alike bring news to The Craftworld that Port Wander, the outer most planet of The Vegas System is abandoned, razed, its armies and population all gone. They also brings news that Orks from Port Wander have invaded the central planet of The Vegas System. The Seer Council demands answers and dispatches their most powerful warhost to The Planet. The Eldar emerge from the void expecting to find Orks, instead find Crimson Fist Primaris Space Marines from The Vile Human Imperium. Confident in their victory, The Eldar rain fire onto the filthy humans as they have done countless times before bringing death and destruction to the savage humans. However, These Primaris Marines proved to be more resilient than what The Eldar typically encountered from the humans. The survivors quickly regrouped and launched a brutal counter attack of their own that surprised The Arrogant Eldar. The Eldar were not expecting the humans to bring to bear such long range and crippling firepower of their own. The battle was a brutal affair as The Eldar suffer considerable casualties and it took the entirety of 6 turns to completely pacify The Human Primaris Marines. The Seer Council can ill afford to under estimate these Primaris Marines again. #warhammer40k#wh40k#warhammer40000#gamesworkshop#gw#primarisspacemarines#crimsonfists#redemptordreadnought#eldar#eldardarkreapers#fireprism#farseer#darkreapers#eldarguardians#tabletopgames#wargames#wargaming#modelgaming#miniaturegame#wargame#hellblasters#primarisaggressors#eldarautarch
Boardgamegeek Con 2018 - Saturday morning game of Sword of Rome with Alan Richbourg (Gaul), Kent (Etruscan/Samnites), Al Berry (Greece), and myself as Rome. We played the 6 Turn game and Alan won with 12 VP; if the track went higher, he probably would have had 15 VP. Rome came in second with 11 VP, Greece had 8 VP, and the Samnites, the Etruscan were erased from history, had 2 VP, one more than the number of Samnites CUs remaining on the map. Sword of Rome is such a great game.
Boardgamegeek Con 2018 - Friday evening was my second game of Successors at the con. This time it was with Chris, Steve, and John. John had some lucky card draws (the siege engine and Eumenes) and good siege rolls, conquering Greece by the end of Turn 1. He finished with the victory point auto-win during Turn 2. I finished with 1 VP in this game, but it was a fun game because of the players.
BGG Con 2018 - Friday morning was an epic A Game of Thrones game - It went the full 10 Turns and my alliance with Greyjoy held as we planned to the start of Turn 10 turn when it was everyman for himself. I thought Stark or Greyjoy had a great chance of winning going into Turn 10, but the loss of House Stark's last move order from a wily card play by House Lannister denied me my last attack to gain my last castle and Greyjoy's final attacks in the South were rebuffed. House Martel came from behind on the last Turn for the win! Great game!
Boardgamegeek Con 2018 - Thursday evening was Successors with Kent Tieman, Al Berry, Chris Trimmer, and myself. I was out of the running after Turn 2. We played to the start of Turn 5 when we called it. At that point Al had a 1VP lead over Chris. Successors is always fun.
Boardgamegeek Con 2018 - Thursday morning I didn't have a long game scheduled, but just happened upon a game of A Distant Plain that needed a 4th so I joined them. It took me a couple of card plays to get my bearings but my USA faction had a chance for the win. I pulled out almost all of the US forces from Afghanistan about 3 cards too early before the last Propaganda card. The Taliban filled the vacuum for the win.
