This temple is dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, Devi and Saura traditions of Hinduism. The archaeological studies suggest that the artists and architects had a far more ambititious plan and the complex remains incomplete.
The temples were carved out of monolithic rock with a shikara , and provided with a sacred pool of water as recommended by Hindu texts on temple architecture.
The Pandavas of Mahabharat fame resided here during their incognito exile from their kingdom and built this temple. identity and location of Pandavas was exposed, so they shifted from here. This is said to be why the temple complex was left unfinished and the stairs to heaven remain unfinished ...
Okey! So I got the opportunity to visit this temple 'Ramanathaswamy' in Tamil Nadu. Before entrying the temple there were lots of security checks, as there were many people who came to pray, from all around India.
The moment I entered the temple I felt this positive energy and I was mesmerized by the sculptures and the beautiful work. The place was full of people who were chanting and praying with 'Aarti'. And a priest explained us the sacredness and importance of the temple. It's a temple dedicated to Hindu god Shiva and is considered a holy pilgrimage site for all the Hindus. . . .
It was an amazing experience. And I felt at peace even though I was surrounded by hundreds of people. It's great isn't it! People should really visit this place. It awesome.
