Well suffice to say this weekend did not go according to plan. Between not getting a camp site right away, Nick getting 20 stitches in his hand and me camping alone while Nick and his Dad were back on the mainland, the weekend turned into something much different than planned! However it is a great lesson in accepting change as a part of life. The bottom line is Nick is safe and on the mend and we were able to adventure together this weekend. We will go back to Orcas Island one day and camp and adventure to our hearts content. Until then, I am going to kick back and relax and enjoy the adventure we did have 😊
This is real life hiking in the PNW. Regardless of the season, you aren’t guaranteed perfect weather. I’ve wanted to do this hike for 3 years. This weekend we took a risk on a very slim weather window. The view ended up being non existent. The company was fantastic (thanks @skuuubatron). Checked off a hike on my bucket list. Maybe next year I’ll do this hike before August (aka when hikes have clear views and aren’t smoky due to wildfires.)
My first actual country concert... with my favorite girl in the world! Of course Darius Rucker plays “it won’t be this way for long” 😭😭😭 I am SO grateful for every step along the way... including now, being old enough for drinks together! And #ladyantebellum is next 🙌🙌🙌
The air quality is at 284/500, which according to Google, is "very unhealthy." Time outside has been limited but even with 5 mins, my eyes and throat starts to hurt. I miss you, fresh air. #smokanogan#jingphoto

Location: Alpine Lakes Wilderness
It’s hard to beat a sunset/sunrise in a region paired with seas of seemingly endless granite mountains and sparkling high alpine lakes.
