Today and for the next 38 days I’ll be trying a different xmas sandwiches for 2018 every day, on the hunt for the best, and no doubt stumbling across some dire ones along the way... So I’m kicking this off with the @waitroseandpartners Pigs Under Blankets sandwich, complete with cranberry sauce and mayonnaise.
This meat feast comes in malted bread, has just the right amount of sauce to keep it moist but not soggy, with spiced sausage and decent amount of bacon, a pretty tasty lunch and I reckon this would go down a treat as a late brekkie on a hangover!
Overall rating: 3/5 👍🏼
Spice up your weekend with these
Smoky pork tacos
470g pack Wahaca Sweet & Smoky Soft Taco Kit
Waitrose 1 Pork Fillet (approx 600g)
2 essential Waitrose Red Peppers, deseeded, each cut into 8
2 essential Waitrose Green Peppers, deseeded, each cut into 8
Sunflower oil, to drizzle
1 large red onion, very finely sliced
2 Cooks’ Ingredients Unwaxed Limes
½ tsp caster sugar
200g tub Waitrose 1 Strained Greek Yogurt
½ x 25g pack flat leaf parsley, leaves only
1. Put the Barbecoa seasoning mix from the kit into a large shallow dish and turn the pork over in it until coated. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
2. Remove the meat from the fridge 20 minutes before cooking. Preheat a grill or barbecue to a medium heat. Cook the pork, turning occasionally for 20-25 minutes, or until slightly charred and just cooked through. Add the peppers for the last 10 minutes of cooking, drizzling them with a little oil as they cook. Remove everything to a board to rest for at least 5 minutes, then thinly slice the pork.
3. Meanwhile, mix the red onion with the finely grated zest and juice of 1 lime, the sugar and a large pinch of salt. Scrunch together with your hands to soften, then set aside for 10 minutes. Cut the other lime into wedges. Warm the tacos according to the pack instructions, then top with spoonfuls of yogurt, the pork, peppers, salsa from the kit, pickled onion and parsley leaves, with the remaining lime wedges to squeeze over.
Starting my mince pie taste tests early this year. These were pretty rank: overly sweet, no spices, chemically cherry flavour and no discernible chocolate taste. Also bloody expensive. 0/10. #mincepies#tastetest#waitrose#heston#nasty
I’m SO excited for Christmas this year! I’ve been so busy that my plans to make homemade mince pies are on hold, so these deliciously buttery ones from @waitroseandpartners will have to do in the meantime🎄
On today’s #UseLessStuff day, we’re giving a second life to our #reusable jars and treating our body with a homemade Limone body scrub. All you need:
🔹2 cups of granulated sugar
🔹some organic lemon juice
🔹1 tbsp raw coconut oil
🔹 1 tbsp extra virgin online oil
Feel free to add a couple of drops of lemon essential oil (or other) for a lasting aroma on the skin after the scrub.
Take care of your body inside out! 💙 #ReusableAndRecyclable
Picked up these new @waitroseandpartners gluten free mini sausage rolls today in the reduced section! There’s 4 small ones in there so pretty expensive considering..even if they were a yellow sticker item ⚠️ I did really like them though! It seems so many supermarkets have had an influx of new #GlutenFree products in the last couple of weeks with more to be added so I’ve heard! Will be keeping an eye out 👀
We are getting ready for Christmas with different recipes. Sage and Apple mince meat filled pork, apples, rosemary, thyme, seasalt. We already baked it, the side is delicious baked pumpkin.
