Fun and busy first day! The zoo was fantastic, kids enjoyed making their own pizzas at Reginelli's, and then we had the best time playing putt-putt at City Putt. Mom, Carter and Cole all got holes in one!😜⛳ What?😂 All of us will sleep good tonight. 😊
The beautiful banquettes and galleries of the French Quarter. ⚜️
(Banquette = sidewalk. A gallery is wider than a balcony. Most galleries overhang the width of the sidewalk, and are supported by posts or columns reaching to the ground whereas a balcony is a narrow platform projecting outwards from the wall of a building. Balconies, unlike galleries, are not supported by posts or columns reaching to the ground.)
As I travel and share my favorite places, I’ve started thinking about what kind of impact I’m having on those places after I share...
. . . .
I recently read a very insightful article (Link in my bio) from someone who did just that - he shared his favorite place. His number 1 burger place in America and caused it to shut down. 🍔
. . . .
Reflecting on the article, I still wholly believe travel brings people together and foster kindness and understanding. 🤝 However, over-tourism is also a growing problem with a global and more accessible world. On a bigger scale, countries are already feeling over-tourism (like New Zealand) and some don't know how to deal with it. One one hand it's success! What a problem to have: too many tourism dollars helping the economy. 💸 Yet, on the other hand, prized attractions are being overrun, polluted, and destroyed (whether a restaurant or a national park).
. . . .
Traveling responsibly has been on my mind more and more. I'm not sure what the answer is, but it's a start to just think and talk about these issues: how do we travel sustainably and help places with our tourism dollars, but at the same time not overwhelm them to the point that they die? How is each of us responsible in doing our part?
. . . .
Whether you read the article or not, I’d be interested in your thoughts, discussions, and ideas.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, we think a video speaks for itself. We’re still smiling from ear to ear thinking about the amazing time we had dancing through the city of New Orleans with the kiddos. Thanks @visitneworleans ! ⚜️ We're also looking forward to many adventures to come this holiday season. Where's everyone going for Thanksgiving?!
Loving the Garden District in New Orleans! There are so many cute houses to explore. And so colorful! What color would your dream home be? [AD] @visitneworleans #OneTimeInNOLA#RSJSinNOLA
Its a beautiful day! ☀️ Woke up in NOLA! And possibly in the tiniest hotel room in the city, but it's all good!😂👍 That didn't stop us from squeezing in a quick workout! Breakfast first, then meeting up at my brother's, and then out to explore. Planning on heading to the zoo today. Thinking we might check out the aquarium, too. Y'all have any other suggestions for kid friendly activities? What about FOOD? So many amazing restaurants in this city! Where should we EAT? 😂😁 Help a girl out. 👇
