(swipe for additional photos) I have very little information to go off on this pair but I can tell you that I am just in love with them! And if I had a place in my house to show them off they would be staying with me! I was only able to find one other set in my research and they were not the same as these. They said they were souvenirs from the Island of Jeju in Korea but I do not know if that is accurate or not. Each of them have little labels on the bottom of their feet (complete with smiling faces!) but the writing is in Chinese/Japanese/Korean and I have zero idea what it says. The one thing I can make out is on the side of each of them it says DOL. They measure just about 7" tall. The other thing that has me stumped is what they are made out of. They look like stone but they are lighter than that. I almost think they might be hollow on the inside. Too light to be stone or ceramic but heavier that a hard plastic. Not as fragile as ceramic either. Must be some kind of pottery. Whatever they are they deserve a wonderful new home! Unsure of the age. Wonderful condition. The only issue I see is that the guy has a little orangish mark on his cheek and arm. I didn't use any cleaner on it other than warm water. No other issues whatsoever! ** $12 for the pair + shipping ** To claim leave a comment saying "MINE or CLAIM" and send a DM right away with your information. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR EMAIL HERE! I can’t bring myself to take down my “retro summer road trip” entry way table, because then I’ll actually have to accept that summer is actually on its way out 😭
I pieced this together slowly over the spring and love how it turned out! I’m grudgingly switching this over tonight, however I’ll be welcoming the 80 degree temps next week with open arms. .
Who’s got some good tips on transitioning to fall without too much trauma? 😆🤣🍁
S is for Stately Souvenirs, aka Ode to New England. I love souvenirs from the golden age of car travel - pennants, juice glasses & mugs, decorative plates, bumper stickers. And I love New England, the beautiful region where I’ve spent most of my life and through which I’ve travelled extensively. When I can I like to track down local antique stores and find vintage souvenirs from them. I’ve gathered quite a stash, and keep them all throughout the house to remind myself of pleasant holiday memories. #aliasalliterativeaugust
Do you ever come across two slightly coordinated items and get inspired to start an entire mismatched collection? These two plates definitely don't "go together," but I could see someone having a whole wall of metal souvenir plates (step aside state plates!) to highlight all the places they've traveled. 🌍🌎🌏 These two are available (separately) in the shop, link below.
