#thevintagesewingchallenge Day 17! Wishes and wants: 🎀Where do you want to go?🎀 I just want to keep sewing and making! I’d love to be able to work on costumes for a theatre production someday! 🎀What do you want to make? 🎀
I have a couple projects on the list right now but overall I just want to continue making clothes for myself and my loved ones, and hopefully get proficient enough to do so for others. 🎀Wishes? 🎀
I wish there was more of The Vintage Sewing Challenge! Thank you so much @shopmakethislook @wearinghistory and @iliveinmylab for creating this challenge. It has truly been inspiring, motivating and fun!And I loved meeting the other participants and seeing all the sewing creations! #vintage#vintagesewing#patterns#sew#lovetosew#wishes#wants
WISHES & WANTS
Where do you want to go?
Where no sewist has gone before: The very bottom of her fabric stash.
What do you want to make?
Quite simply, this same dress out of all these fabrics.
That I’ll actually get through this stack of fabric before I get bored of using the same pattern. I’m hoping that limitation will breed creativity. Most importantly, I want this project to be a way teach some pattern hacks and sewing techniques by sharing this process on my blog.
I hope you’ll follow along. The journey begins next week.
Thank you, @shopmakethislook @wearinghistory @iliveinmylab!! It’s been a fun week sharing and seeing what other #sewists are up to!
I can't believe it's the end of #thevintagesewingchallenge ! It's been a great little challenge--not to long for me to keep up with, great prompts, and the discoveries of so many other sewers and seamstresses. Such a fantastic idea from @shopmakethislook, @wearinghistory, and @iliveinmylab. Thank you all for organizing this!
Wishes and want is a big one for me. There are so many of them. Too many. I feel like my imagination and desire for the amount I wish I could create is too much sometimes. I'm trying this year to only do the wonderful projects--the ones that make me truly excited and the ones I know I'll make use of a lot. It's going to be an odd mix of the everyday and the wildly impractical, but it's going to be fun. •
Thank you to @iliveinmylab @wearinghistory and @shopmakethislook for hosting #thevintagesewingchallenge this week. It’s my first ever Instagram sewing challenge I have participated in and I have had so much fun!
The last post of this challenge is about wishes and wants and the reason I did this challenge is because I wanted to find my passion for sewing again. My boyfriend went to an event earlier this year without me and family members he hadn’t seen in a long time were asking him about me. They asked him what kind of hobbies I had and he came home and said, “I didn’t know what to tell them! You love dance, but dance is one of your jobs. So is graphic design and photography. You don’t have any hobbies anymore that aren’t related to your work.” For some reason this statement has been on repeat in my mind for months, “What are my hobbies? Do I really have nothing outside of work?” So I’ve been trying to get back into things I used to love doing in my free time. I want and wish to get my sewing skills back to what they used to be. I want them to stay fresh in my mind. They have already gotten rusty and I don’t want to lose them even more. So thanks to this challenge, I have felt more motivation to sew and create than I have in years. Here’s to hoping I finally sew through *some* of my piles of fabrics and patterns I have collected over the years. 🤞🏻🤓 #vintagepatterns#antiquecollection#sewing#isew#sewcialists#sewistsofinstagram#vintage#vintagesewing#hobbies#afterlight#vsco
Last day of #thevintagesewingchallenge and I'm so glad I was able to participate, thank you so much @iliveinmylab @wearinghistory and @shopmakethislook for putting on this fab event!
My wish is for the patience and understanding that I'm still new to this, and that in time what seems hard (understanding patterns and new terms) will come without thinking. I want more time to sew and perhaps for more sweet fabric finds at my favorite thrift shops! #vintagesewing#happywithlife#asdmom#isew#thehopelessemerald
My latest creation is this olive green 1940s inspired blouse! It’s a pattern hack based on #simplicity1692 , I exchanged the side zip for a button placket down the back which I think gives a lovely touch to the design. The bishop sleeves are a new style for me but I really like them ☺️ This fabric is thrifted and I’m not actually sure what type of fabric it is, but it’s similar to a crepe with a sheen to it that gives a light gold reflect. I love the fit of this pattern and didn’t have to make many adjustments. I do have a larger bust and this fit me well with no alterations. I did find the cuffs were way to big for me but my wrists are pretty little so that’s common for me. Already planning another one with different sleeves 😄 #vintagesewing#1940shair#1940sstyle#vintagestyle#memade#sewing#simplicitypatterns#sewinghacks#1940sblouse#vintage#landgirl
Hello Instagrammers! I’ve been sewing my little heart out over the past two weeks and decided to take a mini insta-break while I was at it - Me Made May took it out of me 😬 I’m back now and really wanted to share this gorgeous mustard #pippipinafore by @isewyousee 💛 Mustard is proving to be a popular Pippi colour choice with stunning versions also made by @Wendy_stitch & @red_october 🤗
I’m not one of these people who can wear mustard by my face, but I’m wondering if I might be able to get away with it for Pippi... with a plain top layered underneath - what do you think? What colours would you go with?
