I loved An Enchantment of Ravens! The writing style is sweet and cozy and beautiful. The story is mostly light, but sometimes dark and always adventurous. 🍂🖤🍁 I finished it in two days! -
Qotd: what was the last book that you simply could not put down? 🎃
Thanks to all my friends for sending me birthday wishes today.... .....and as It’s my birthday, this is the very book that my mother was reading as they wheeled her into the delivery room! I was keen to arrive just as she was getting to the interesting bit, where Harrer reaches the Forbidden City of Llasa. It’s a little battered because apparently childbirth is a bit stressful, and she didn’t put the book down! Is it any wonder she gave birth to a bookworm?? Pan books 1953, with photos by the author Heinrich Harrer.
I have fallen in love with Book Barn, especially the aisle of old Pelicans. The oldies are always the best. Look at this simple, iconic and beautiful cover from the 1930s 😍 I want to collect them all, even if they’re decades out of date #pelicanbooks#vintagebooks#bookbarninternational
“I had got in the habit of taking small, thoughtful walks in every weather, during which I enjoyed a kind of bliss, a bliss filled with melancholy, contempt for the world and contempt for myself.“
Herman Hesse, Demian
Last night our power went out suddenly, so I lit some candles and the boys and I settled into my room. Waylon suggested we read a book so he went to grab some, bringing back this one I had forgotten I even had. A 1946 French version of "The Little Prince". There's little treasures hidden all over my house!
