Temperatures have gone down quite severely today here in Tuscany.
Cold winds with sharp blue skies.
Busy day in the house.
Guests arriving for the weekend.
Very dear friends coming over for dinner.
Fireplace is on.
Menu, as expected, is very rustic.
On the table is served white polenta with wild funghi patè (homemade with fresh funghi picked in the woods!), homemade fegatini patè (my addiction since moving to Tuscany!) to be eaten strictly with fresh pane di Montegemoli, spicy green olives (hand picked couple of weeks ago!), cheese, roasted chestnuts from Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, chickpeas purée with salted cod, salad (yes always!), focaccia and grilled meat in an old fashion countryside way...yes on the fireplace! Red wine, of course!
All to be concluded with a bottle of a 44 years old vin santo (yes you read it correctly!!!) and homemade (again!) cantucci and biscotto povero.
No! Tonight I don’t take credit for any of the homemade dishes!
Put it this way, how deliciously lucky am I to have friends who love to cook all those scrumptiousness!? I know! ♥️
But most of all to be able to enjoy each other’s company, forget the madness of our world these days even if only for one evening. We all need that. Tomorrow it will all be crazy again but with a different taste in your heart.
Good, simply, genuine food and friends are, and forever will be, the best medicine for absolutely everything.
“Goodnight & good luck”
If you know me a little, you’re well aware that, besides wine, I love dark chocolate 🍫 to the moon and back: I literally can’t live without it!
So can you imagine the skyrocketing levels my serotonin reaches when I organize wine and chocolate tastings?! 😍 OMG, that’s pure indulgence!! 🥂
In this picture, 7 different dark chocolate blends from @amedeituscany paired with Vin Santo del Chianti Classico @castellodialbola and Recioto di Gambellara @zoninwines . It’s incredibly interesting to taste how the wines and the chocolates enhance and affect one another!
My ATF pairing? 80% dark chocolate and Amarone 🍷 della Valpolicella! 😍🤪
What’s your favorite pairing with chocolate my friends?

Found this Italian gem near my work. I'm always looking for places that have rooms for business meals or private parties. One to add to my list. This is a place to impress the in-laws or third date.
I won't lie, this place will cost you a little more. The truffle pasta (your choice of white or black truffles) will put you back £35-55 depending on the quality of the truffle. Two waiters walk over, one holds open a wooden box showcasing the truffles, and the other literally shaves the truffles in front of you. **Foodgasm** The taglierini had the perfect bite and then the truffles come full force in all its glory, like that open mic night act that won't get off the stage.
The first thing that came was the parmesan fries, and you have NEVER had fries like these. They were sexy. Churros made of creamy mashed potatoes with a fragile crispy coating under melting parmesan flakes. We also had the oriecchette with kale pesto (perfect bounce), chilli, and castelmagno cheese, the cappelletti with delica pumpkin, chestnut, and sage butter, and the spiced lamb arancini.
But I gotta tell you... the surprise act of the night was the vin santo creme caramel. Did you get that? Vin santo. IN your creme caramel. The texture was slightly denser, but so silky, I wanted to ask its skin care routine. The slightly burnt caramel cut through the cream for a great balance. I would come here for this alone.
A primi piatti of pasta and a secondi of a meat will put you back about £50 before wine. The ambiance is gorgeous... rustic exposed brick and enough space between tables to make it private.
These barrels are OLD (hundreds of years!!) and house Agricola Tamburini’s Vin Santo, the traditional sweet dessert wine that @tamburigna and her family have been making in the Chianti region since the 19th century🍷#womeninwine
Before leaving #Santorini , had little bit of time left to try the famous ‘Vin santo’ 4yrs, 8yrs and other semi-dry santorini wines with mr billy boy🍷
If time permitted, i would have tasted all wines available here @santo_wines 💕
Did y'all think I forgot about my food pic series?!... Oh ye of little faith... Next up on our adventure: La Mandrie di Ripalta ❤️ This adorable bnb in the hills of Tuscany stole my heart.
