The city of Barcelona condems this crime and rejects all attitudes and actions that violate the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.), 6 & 7. Once again, the stairs find me. Cascada Monumental, with stairs up & down either side of it. 8. I believe this is a school. 9. The train station, 10. Our tour guide pointed out a trick to find our way back, Christopher Columbus statue is pointing at the ship! #maristeslaimmaculada#lasagradafamilia#arcdetriomf#glorietadelatransexualsonia#cascadamonumental#barcelona#catalonia#westernmediterraneanexplorer#vikingcruises#vikingsun

Cruise, Day 6: Sète, France (Pronounced set). It's a fishing village / port town, and was the last minute replacement for Marseille, due to Yellow Jackets' threats to shut down the area around the port, which means Viking would not have been able to operate its tours. There was one tour offered: a walking tour of Sète (or the "leisurely" (AKA slow) version of the same tour). I enjoyed the fact that the whole day was spent here so I feel like I got more than just a taste, and had lots of free time!
1. View of Sète from the ship, illuminated by the sunrise, 2. Random shot of the canals, 3. Our awesome tour guide Danielle told us about the local speciality Tielle, which is squid & tomato sauce pie. It was wonderful. 4. Seafood at the Farmers Market, 5. Graffiti art at high school Lycée d'Etat Paul Valéry, 6. The cemetery Cimetière Marin, 7. Cat friend I met at Cimetière Marin, 8. Sète lighthouse with Viking Sun in the background, 9. Some stairs I went down. 10. I sat right next to this fountain and enjoyed a café chocolat viennois. #sète#sete#france#tielle#westernmediterraneanexplorer#vikingcruises#vikingsun
Day 3 of cruise, Monte Carlo, Monaco & Beausoleil, France, part 2 - THE STAIRS HIKE!: 1. Escalier Inzernia, 2. Escalier Rogolini, 3. Montée du Caroubier, 4. Escapier du Capitole, 5. Rue Sophie / Escalier Tivoli, a charming stairs street with a pizzeria on it, Chez Giuliano, 6. Escalier Flandrin, just over the border into Beausoleil, France (this hike criss-crossed the border several times), 7. More of Escalier Flandrin. After this I cut the hike down a bit, as my Sister was over it, and then did a little solo stairs mission near the ship, on my own: 8. Stairs with cannonballs at Fort Antoine, 9. Fort Antoine amphitheatre, 10. Stairs down to the beach. (Look at next post for an odd little footnote to this one.) #westernmediterraneanexplorer#montecarlo#monaco#beausoleil#france#stairs#stairshike#stairshiking#fitness#excercise#twocountries#vikingcruises#vikingsun
15/11/18 - Venice, Italy
We started our honeymoon cruise with an overnight in Venice, Italy. It was pretty neat seeing Venice for the first time, during the evening. City vibes are always so different at night compared to the day.
Cruise Day 1: Rome. Rome is really just the day you board the ship. We would have just transferred to the ship, but our flight arrived to Rome at 9am. What a waste of a day to not see Rome! So we booked a private tour. 1. A pyramid shaped tomb, 2. The Colosseum & some columns, I forget what from, 3. Trevi Fountain, 4 & 5. Spanish Steps, 6. A bunch of statues on top of the highest hill with the best view, 7. The yummiest Italian food ever, thanks to our guide Roberto's recommendation, 8. Fountain in the square, at The Vatican, 9. View from the infinity pool (Note: water was much higher earlier, doesn't look as infinite when out goes down.) #westernmediterraneanexplorer#rome#thevatican#vikingcruises#vikingsun
